"Hello" as written by Annie Danielewski, Ronnie Estelle and R.j. Rice....
Hello, hello

Are you out there?
M.O.D. are you out there?
I can't see your face
But you left a trace on a data back-road

That I almost erased
Not even God takes this long to get back
So get back
'Cause I hit a fork in the road

I lost my way home
I'm cut off from out main line
Like a disconnected modem

Tap in the code
I'll reach you below
No one should brave the underworld alone
Hello, hello, hello
How do I reach you?

Word has it on the wire
That you don't who you are
Well if you could jack into my brain
You'd know exactly what you mean here

Mothers are trails on stars in the night
Fathers are black holes that suck up the light
That's the memory I filed on the fringe
Along with the memory of the pain you lived in

I don't have the password
But the path is chainlinked
So if you've got the time
Set up the tone to sync
Tap in the code
I'll reach you below

Hello, hello
Are you out there?

Trigger happy Jack

He scares easily
It makes him so angry
At me

And his head it spins around
Just like the Exorcist and I
Find it ever so
Hard to resist his cries

But there's nothing more sadistic than an infant
Waving his pistol in my face
He wants me right down on my knees
Crumbling in disgrace

But he underestimates my mind
I know he's messing with my head
My only weakness is
I can't believe the guy could be entirely dead

Can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being
Can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being
Trigger Happy Jack
You're gonna blow
But I'm gonna get off
before you go
My Trigger Happy Jack is just a
drive by a go-go

And after awhile he calms down
And he looks at me like a prince
But I know I better bite the bullet
'Cause it's just another one of his
Jedi mind tricks

But this ain't no headtrip honey
This is a collision on the road
And you've got me feeling oh just like a roadkill
and you know deep down I know
Can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being
Can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being
Trigger Happy Jack
You're gonna blow
But I'm gonna get off
before you go
My Trigger Happy Jack is just a
drive by a go-go

Why do you make me feel like this? (1-2-3-4)
Why do you gotta be such a dick? (1-2-3-4)
Why do you make me feeling like this? (1-2-3-4)
Why do you gotta be such a dick? (1-2-3-4)

And I hate myself
Just enough to want him
But I hate him just enough to get off
But I understand him
Maybe I'm just crazy enough
To love him
Why not? (why not?)

You can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being

General CommentI propose that this song is an encoded message from an artist to its soulmate. The implication is that some cosmic process has separated two lovers, perhaps due to inevitable cycles of death and rebirth. Thus, they are having to go through the motions to relocate each other's pieces in new "physical" incarnations. Because of the nature of perception and states of consciousness--it may not be feasible for the central entity that is broadcasting this transmission to "walk in the door" of the intended recipient. So instead of providing the targeted listener with a "password', the song asks for a response ("tap in a code"...which might be read as 'show a sign of intelligent life...beat out a rhythm I'll recognize...'). The implication is that there's no silver bullet for getting the two back together as one instantly ("I don't have the password") but that each step of self-expression will provide a gateway to allow the fragments to attract each other and get closer to the source. But don't take my word for it--I heard all this from the Master Of Disguise himself...

General CommentI always interpreted this song as being about the omniprescence of MODerators being all big brotherish, theres even a bit in the song where she seems to be complaining about how long it can take to talk to a moderator (on some sites) if you need to talk to one (like with a glitch or something); but I can see it being about hackers, the thing about leaving a trace on a data back road is something hackers try to avoid, no? (unless they want to get back in later) and isnt that chain linked thing about hidden messages that you click on part of an image or something and it routes you to another site or something? It could be something less literal and be referring to a "disconnected" (depressed?) boyfriend...

General CommentAll these other discussions have merit, but in a more general and (imo) important sense, the song is about feeling lost in life, and missing somebody important.

General CommentI think this song is about love, like most things are. She is saying "where were you when I needed you?" and "You screwed me over, but now that you need help even though you totally ruined me I'll be there for you in the end."
Then again... I do have a tendencey to look too deap into things.

General CommentMOD was indeed a group of hackers. Back when "the internet" wasn't a word spoken. Back when there were just dial-up BBS services.
