Ten minutes to downtown
Is ten minutes too far?
When my friends all say I'm crazy
Maybe I'm being selfish
Maybe I'm just scared

Don't be gone when I get home, I need you there

If I had to explain it
I wouldn't know where to start
It's like you're falling in love while I just fall apart

Ten minutes to downtown
Is ten minutes too far?
When my heart is saying you're crazy
Maybe things are getting better
Maybe things aren't so bad

Don't be gone when I get home, you're all I have

If I had to explain it
I wouldn't know where to start
It's like you're falling in love while I just fall apart

Pockets empty
How can you tell me that everything will work out?
A pointless fight
When you're always right and everything will work out
It works out

Sometimes I miss you more
Whenever I'm at home
I've been home all summer
Now I'm leaving you alone

Pockets empty
How can you tell me that everything will work out?
A pointless fight
When you're always right and everything will work out
Everything will work out
Everything will work out

wow. i can't believe that nobody has commented on this song. matthew pryor outdid himself on this song. this has to be the best 'get up kids' song that i have ever heard. it is so sad, desprictive, heartfelt and plainly amazing. the whole song is the story of my life, well kinda. but none the less this song is just flat out awesome. you can hear his pain so clearly when he sings.

yeah this song fuckin' rocks. It's not their best song but it is definitely up there in the top 5. Great live cut for them too.

The Get-Up Kids are who got me into "emo" in the first place. This is definately an awesome song, and Something To Write Hom About is a great album.

matt pryor didn't write this song, jim suptic did, their voices sound a lot the same, but there is a slight difference

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
