Deep Red is blurring my eyes
I'll wait in the closet until tonight
I want you to explain your feelings for me
The blade on your skin is what I've wanted to be
I will wait for you to scream and shout, but
You open your mouth, the blood runs out...

The knife cuts through her skin
And your heart starts beating faster
You feel the pressure within
As you look into her eyes...

I'm probably the only person who sees the song this way, but I've always interpreted it almost sexually. Rough, perhaps even nonconsensually, but sexual all the same. Wanting to be the blade against the other person, the knife cutting through skin ...

Granted, I'm a masochist with a blade fetish, so of course I'd interpret the song that way ... :P

This song has always come across to be as being about self harm.. I'm not sure if that's the true meaning though.

This one seems pretty obvious to me, actually: the emotional and physiological sensations experienced when harming or killing another human being. Could be considered "sick" by some, but I think it's a great expression of something the artist has (hopefully) never experienced.

I actually think this song has something to do with the Dario Argento horror film of the same title. It's about a psychopath killing people with a butcher knife.

This song is about an angry guy murdering his significant other, then feeling guilt about what he has done.

i obviously have quite an affinity for this song. sounds to me, though, that the line is "the blade on your skin is what matters to me"--especially in the live recording. the infliction of pain upon the other person described here, though violent, is also perversely beautiful ("as you look into her eyes" makes it personal, meaningful). also, one cannot escape the sexual reference--the the "pressure within," the phllic knife etc. so freudian. depending upon ones preference, this can mean violent revenge or sex. or both. whatever you fancy...

"the blade on your skin, is what i've wanted to be."

to me that says this song isnt literal. its about wanting to inflict pain on someone, probably in return for pain they have caused you. when looked at in that way, its beautiful.

This song means to me the pain you are feeling while watching a loved one or someone that you know and care for being hurt, weather it be with a knife or some other blunt object, they are being stabbed so it seems

This song for me always gets me thinking about someone’s urge to protect someone coming up when they know about another’s peril in being hurt. I don't know why.

I've always seen it as a guy going out to murder his girlfriend/girl he loves...whatever. He goes to do it, but it gets to him every time he looks into her eyes. Great song. First Apoptygma Berzerk song I've heard, made me love them. ^^

These lyrics are wrong. The line isn't "the blade on your skin is what I've wanted to be" it's "the blade on your skin is what matters to me" .

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
