My mind's tired, my body's wired
I fuck like a saint, I taste like a liar
Opium, haze, chemical drain
Alive in the blaze, death in the vein

I'll never fail to disappoint you

Snake snake snake charmer, charmer
In the wake wake wake of drama
I'm looking for bones to crack
Snake snake snake charmer, charmer
For the sake sake sake of karma
I'm taking my poison back

My heart's black, my soul's cracked
I sing for the swine, I preach to the rat
You've been so kind, you've been so blind
I'll cut my throat and smile at suicide

If you beg, they anoint you
But I'll never fail to disappoint you

Snake snake snake charmer, charmer
In the wake wake wake of drama
I'm looking for bones to crack
Snake snake snake charmer, charmer
For the sake sake sake of karma
I'm taking my poison back

Alright

Get off
Get up off your knees
Don't beg
Don't you beg or bleed
Get off your knees
Don't beg, don't bleed
Yeah (yeah)
I've got (I've got)
All you'll ever need

Snake snake snake charmer, charmer
In the wake wake wake of drama
I'm looking for bones to crack
Snake snake snake charmer, charmer
For the sake sake sake of karma
I'm taking my poison back

Snake, snake, snake
I'm looking for bones to crack
Get off your knees
Don't beg and bleed
Get off your knees
I'm taking my, I'm taking my
I'm taking my poison back

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
