Aurelia, the new wolves await
Aurelia, they brought you new chains
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
And you sing along
Aurelia, dream animals’ wills are real
Enough to make the slow kill
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
And you sing along
Can you see at night?
We can see at night
And we’re barking in the wrong key
And you sing along
Aurelia, they brought you new chains
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
And you sing along
Enough to make the slow kill
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
They’re barking in the wrong key
And you sing along
We can see at night
And we’re barking in the wrong key
And you sing along

The second day listening to this and here is my take on the song:
It is about a girl named Aurelia, she portrays the innocence, ignorance of people who are blind to the real world and see only what the wolves choose to show to her. She is thus, trapped in their chains.
The wolves stand for everything that is wrong in this world. The illusion of media, the power of money over reality, propaganda, school's history textbook, etc...
Most relevantly, these wolves can be talentless popular novelists with their meaningless books, or talentless popular singers with their meaningless songs. They bark in the wrong key. They bark, not sing. They tell lies, not truths. But still, Aurelia sings along. She doesn't have a clue.
In verse 2, Aurelia dreams the dream that those wolves, those animals will her to dream. And that is dangerous. That's what making Aurelia die slowly. That's what making humanity die slowly.
Next, AFI ask if Aurelia can see that? If she can see at night, see through the darkness? They tell her that they can. As a plead for her to listen to them and rescue herself out of those chains.
The sentence "We're bark in the wrong key" can have 2 meanings:
But in the end, they're keep barking and Aurelia keeps singing along.
This song is terribly underrated.
To me, “barking in the wrong key”means not prioritizing/focusing on what’s most important (doing things to impress others/worrying about what is “cool”, showing off meaningless materialistic items, etc). And you/we sing along is saying sometimes we lose sight of what is most important too, even if we don’t mean too. “Can you see at night? We can see at night” is important to all of this because it’s ultimately asking can YOU see what truly holds the most value through all the darkness?
