To me, “barking in the wrong key”means not prioritizing/focusing on what’s most important (doing things to impress others/worrying about what is “cool”, showing off meaningless materialistic items, etc). And you/we sing along is saying sometimes we lose sight of what is most important too, even if we don’t mean too.

We can see at night” is important to all of this because it’s ultimately asking can YOU see what truly holds the most value through all the darkness?
