What is life but a burden for me
It comes alive as I try to sleep
All this anger
Burning inside but buried deep
Watashi to issho ni kite kudasai
Ichiban, Zero
One step forward and two to the side
Every single time

Whoa
I fall asleep and I feel I'm falling
Nightmare comes without warning (Patricide)
I can't seem to sleep (The guilt inside)
I can't stay awake
In my dreams I feel I'm running
Towards her shining light
Cocooned in steel as you fall, away

She shines for me, she shines for me
Just like glass I saw right through
Something I couldn't see, something I couldn't see
Until I changed my point of view
Inside a machine, inside a machine
I cannot let you go
Inside of me, inside of me
The will to change the world

Can a mask be the face of reason
Eye to eye with a loaded mind
You will answer, to the pieces left behind
Well I watched her die in your arms
Zero, zero
So kill a king with a sleight of hand
Freed but they'll never understand

Fall asleep and I feel I'm falling
Nightmare comes without warning (Patricide)
I can't seem to sleep (The guilt inside)
I can't stay awake
In my dreams I feel I'm running
Towards her shining light
Cocooned in steel as you fall

As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep (I can't seem to sleep)
As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep

She shines for me, she shines for me
Just like glass, she's just like glass
She shines for me, she shines for me, me
Whoa, whoa

As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep
As you fall asleep

She shines for me, she shines for me
Just like glass I saw right through
Something I couldn't see, something I couldn't see
Until I changed my point of view
Inside a machine, inside a machine
I cannot let you go
Inside of me, inside of me
The will to change the world

    My Interpretation

    (Sung by Suzaku possibly)

What is life but a burden for me? It comes alive as I try to sleep All this anger Burning inside, but buried deep (the anger at Zero) Watashi to issho ni kite kudasai! (Translates to: Come with me!) Ichiban, Zero (Translates to: First, Zero) One step forward and two to the side Every single time

I fall asleep and I feel I’m falling Nightmare comes without warning I can’t seem to sleep I can’t stay awake

In my dreams I feel I’m running Towards her shining light (Possibly Euphemia, Suzaku being Euphemia's personal knight) Cocooned in steel as you fall away (Suzaku protects Euphy from his knightmare frame, but he has failed to protect her, as Zero shoots her)

She shines for me, she shines for me (Euphemia hopes for a future with Suzaku) Just like glass I saw right through (Could be referring to Euphemia) Something I couldn’t see, something I couldn’t see Until I changed my point of view Inside a machine, inside a machine, (machine being a Knightmare frame) I cannot let you go Inside of me, inside of me The will to change the world

Can a mask be the face of reason, (Zero's mask) Eye to eye with a loaded mind, (Geass requires eye to eye contact) You will answer To the pieces left behind Well I watched her die, in your arms (Suzaku watched Zero kill Euphy) Zero, ZERO! To kill a king with a sleight of hand (Maybe referring to Zero's muder of Clovis using Geass to get to him) Freed but they’ll never understand

I fall asleep and I feel I’m falling Nightmare comes without warning I can’t seem to sleep I can’t stay awake

In my dreams I feel I’m running Towards her shining light (Euphy) Cocooned in steel as you fall (Inside a knightmare frame, as Euphy gets shot) As you fall asleep

    (I can’t seem to sleep)

She shines for me, she shines for me (Euphy wants to have a future with Suzaku) Just like glass, she’s just like glass

She shines for me, she shines for me (Same again) Just like glass I saw right through Something I couldn’t see, something I couldn’t see Until I changed my point of view Inside a machine, inside a machine, (machine being a Knightmare frame) I cannot let you go (Suzaku cannot let Euphy's death be for nothing, nor go unavenged) Inside of me, inside of me The will to change the world

    My Interpretation

First, I believe the 1st verse, (What is life but a burden for me etc) is sung by Lelouch, and the second (can a mask be the face of reason etc) by Suzaku

I think that the lines "Just like glass, she's just like glass" Refer to the point in R2 of Code Geass, when Lelouch remembers that Suzaku said happiness would look like a pane of glass if it had a visible shape, because you can't always see it, but it is always there. Meaning Euphy, who the song is probably about, is Suzaku and Lelouch's happiness.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
