Settle Lyrics
Learn to fly,
Learn to fly,
Show the world
How you try.
But don't let go
Until you know,
Until you know
Me.
'Cause I can see,
I can see
All the things
Arresting me.
But I control,
I control.
When I get home,
When I get home,
I want to feel less alone.
I couldn't feel,
I couldn't feel
Anybody.
This isn't home,
This isn't home,
I couldn't feel more alone.
I need to feel,
I need to feel
Somebody.
'Cause I see the world
In different colours
To someone like you.
This day, we'll all pull you in
Romantic and drenched in sin.
But you only have an amount of time
Until this place
Will swallow you whole.
And everything I cannot imagine.
This dim-lit room has seen much before me.
And I don't want
To ever know,
To know.
The city will pull you in
Romantic and drenched in sin
But you only have an amount of time
Until this place
Will swallow you whole.
Learn to fly,
Show the world
How you try.
Until you know,
Until you know
Me.
I can see
All the things
Arresting me.
But I control,
I control.
When I get home,
I want to feel less alone.
I couldn't feel,
I couldn't feel
Anybody.
This isn't home,
I couldn't feel more alone.
I need to feel,
I need to feel
Somebody.
In different colours
To someone like you.
Romantic and drenched in sin.
But you only have an amount of time
Until this place
Will swallow you whole.
This dim-lit room has seen much before me.
And I don't want
To ever know,
To know.
Romantic and drenched in sin
But you only have an amount of time
Until this place
Will swallow you whole.

According to Songfacts, this is what the song is about: The origins of this song lie in a soundcheck. Singer-guitarist Alex Trimble told NME: "Sam (Halliday, lead guitar) was playing this kind of Celtic riff and we just started jamming, then we took it home and worked on it. It's the most melancholic song on the record. It's about the first time we moved to London and we had a horrible little flat — it just wasn't a nice place to be."
Makes sense to me actually... London is such a big city, it would be so easy to get lost in it for someone who's never been there before.
This song is amazing. :3 The music, and the chorus ("the city will pull you in"). sigh
This song. I love it. I feel like it's about not feeling comfortable where you are. About being somewhere and knowing that you're meant for better and more more. You're somewhere and you just wish that this wasn't where you belong. You see where you are as romantic and a pathway but you still just want to feel like you deserve better. To me, this song is all about knowing you're meant for better.
Calming, chill and everything i need when everything is going wrong. Two Door cinema, i adore what you do to me.
I believe there is a little mix up on the lyrics. I think that instead of "you only have an amount of time" (I think it's too long also for the song) it says "you only have but a time" anyone else think?
