You would look a little better
Don't you know
If you just wore less make-up
But its hard to realize
When you're sky high
Fighting off the spaceships

And so you're drinking in your room
To make it all go
It didn't end too soon
You've got the next one
You're holding on too long
You've got to let go
Your other love is gone
And you know

Its too late
Its too late
You've got another one coming
And its going to be the same

I tried to find a quiet place that we could go
To help you make decisions
But I didn't find it easy to tell them apart
With double vision

And so you're drinking in your room
To make it all go
It didn't end too soon
You've got the next one
You're holding on too long
You've got to let go
Your other love is gone
And you know

Its not the same
Its not the same
Its not the same
You're going to tell me that I'm right
You're going to come back down
And find yourself
Where you are again

You didn't know
You didn't know
You didn't know
So don't pretend you saw it now
Its not something you'd want to happen
Now you know who you are again

I'm not sure what the two decisions are in this song but i love how that makes it more open to interpretation. "When you're sky high fighting off the space ships" makes me think that the subject is on drugs.

"Drinking in your room" makes me think of an alcoholic (in an extreme situation) or maybe just a lonely person who's trying to make it through a hard time.

"I tried to find a quiet place that we could go/to help you make decisions" maybe it's a good friend that can see both sides of a story clearly. "It didn't end too soon" indicates some sorta relationship either material/emotional/physical, maybe a bad one since "It didn't end too soon".

I think the last part of the song is the best though, it's always comforting to know someone will catch you. Brilliant band.

    My Interpretation

I have to get this off my chest - I heard this song 2 days ago, and ever since I haven't been able to get it out of my head - the lyrics, the sounds (especially the last chorus OMG), everything it's just perfect to me. personally, the song pretty much mirrors my situation at the moment, which is probably why I love it and yet hate it at the same time.

Basically to me, it's someone trying to console their friend, and telling them that holding on to the idea of getting back with their ex is a bad one, but the friend is so blinded by their feelings that they're "sky high...fighting off the spaceships". The person feels so much sadness and insecurity about the relationship ending so soon (mine lasted a month) but the friend tells them it was meant to be: "it didn't end too soon", that person was simply bad for them. The singer takes the friend somewhere "quiet", away from the noise of painful gossip, so they can make better "decisions". The worst part for the person singing to see is that the friend isn't letting go even when they've "got the next one", a possibly better chance at love - and they are "gone" if the friend doesn't see that. The person believes that the friend will one day see this however, when they "come back down" and find themselves back at the beginning: "where [they] are again".

For some reason, I interpret the last lyric as the friend singing - he's angry, perhaps because deep deep down he's scared that the singer might be right about them never being with that girl/guy again. he/she dismisses the singer's empathy, saying "you didn't know" so "don't pretend you sorta know", and "it's not something you'd want to happen". That, or possibly the singer saying the friend doesn't know why the relationship ended, and it's perhaps better that way, because the experience of breaking up in itself was enough education - now the person knows "who [they] are again", they don't have to compromise themselves for their "partner" anymore, and can make better choices next time with someone truly right for them.

That being said..I miss my ex :/

    Song Meaning

i feel like this is about someone who has so far lost touch with reality that they are living behind lies and deceit that they themselves have created. The "makeup" is metaphor for everything they hide behind

"I tried to find a quiet place that we could go To help you make decisions But I didn't find it easy to tell them apart With double vision"

i feel like its a song about the struggles of reaching out and trying to help a friend, and how hard it is to help someone until that person can be honest with themselves, and once someone is honest with themselves, "Now you know who you are again"

    My Interpretation

The song definitely seems like it's about a relationship that's going wrong. "And so you're drinking in your room" means that one of them is drinking to make the pain go away while the other (also have drunk) "tried to find a quiet place that we could go To help you make decisions". The one who was drinking will realize in the end that the other was right "Its not the same You're going to tell me that I'm right You're going to come back down And find yourself Where you are again."

Even though the meaning (that I've interpreted) is kind of sad, the music is very happy and something I've listened to quite a lot!

I love this song... it's amazing and it appeals to me :D

The song is basically Alex (the lead singer) is singing about how his friend wants to get back with her ex and he is saying it's a bad idea, and that he loves her more than her ex ever would. I think it's so sweet <3

It's like in my situation, I want to get back with him, but my friends are telling me it's a bad idea and he can't be trusted... the only thing is that I don't have an Alex to my story :(

    Song Meaning

I think it's about an Acid Trip (or similar drug)

"Hard to realize when you're Sky High, fighting off the spaceships."

"But I didn't find it easy to tell them apart with double vision"

He also mentions Coming Back Down, possibly off of their high?

    My Interpretation

for me there's two different people talking. the first verses are those typical advices from a close friend after a break up - "you're holding on too long, you've got to let go". the last two verses are the broken hearted's response for those advices, rejecting them and saying to the friend: "it's not the same, you didn't know"

    My Interpretation

I think this song can be applied to lots of situations. For me, it has an incredible significance to my life. It reminds me of a time, at the height of my depression, when we went to a friends house to drink. I got blind and it triggered a psychotic attack and my friends had to take me to all these rooms to calm me down and try and talk it through. I would go in and out of panics and that's kind of represented by the 'you've got another one coming'- the rest is kind of self explanatory. I don' know it this is what it universally relates to people but to me its basically a girl getting help from her friend but shes really beyond their reach and nothing can stop her.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is coming from the perspective of a close guy friend who has feelings for this girl but she doesn't feel the same and keeps going through guy after guy and things never work out. He's condescending in a way because she makes him mad but he cares for her too.

You would look a little better Don't you know If you just wore less make-up: She tries too hard and at the same time, he feels bad that she feels like she has to make herself good enough because she's beautiful the way she is and he loves her for who she really is. But its hard to realize When you're sky high Fighting off the spaceships: She's going through a lot. Can't see things for what they really are.

And so you're drinking in your room To make it all go: Always gets extremely emotionally attached and thinks it's going to be different, but it never is. It didn't end too soon You've got the next one: Sort of mocking her, but in a loving way. But he knows that she'll get over it and just go on to the next guy in line. You're holding on too long You've got to let go Your other love is gone: She needs to move on. He's not the one for her anyway. She blew it... she seems to have a way with not making relationships work. And you know

Its too late Its too late You've got another one coming And its going to be the same: Things are just gonna keep happening the same way, going in circles. He doesn't like that, but he knows it's just the way she is and what always happens.

I tried to find a quiet place that we could go To help you make decisions: best friends, he helps her with guy problems But I didn't find it easy to tell them apart With double vision: hard for him because he's trying to see her way and help. Wants her to be happy, but wants them to be more too so he has a hard time sometimes with the two perspectives.

And so you're drinking in your room To make it all go It didn't end too soon You've got the next one You're holding on too long You've got to let go Your other love is gone And you know

(Its not the same Its not the same Its not the same You're going to tell me that I'm right You're going to come back down And find yourself Where you are again): "wishful thinking. dreaming sort of. They wouldn't be the same as all of her past relationships. they would work out. they're meant to be together. She's going to realize what she's been missing. She's going to become who she was before all of the guys happened and she's going to find herself and be happy. and he'll be happy.

You didn't know You didn't know You didn't know So don't pretend you saw it now Its not something you'd want to happen Now you know who you are again: She never saw it coming. She never had feelings for himand didn't want to let herself love him, but it happened. And now she can be herself.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
