This song has a very personal meaning and it may not appeal to the masses. To me it is about two people who want to be together but for whatever reason they cannot be because "the world is watching". The narrator/singer wants the other person to be with him/her and they imagine a place they can go to that is private for the two of them. But in the end they just can't be together as they are stuck in their respective situations but they are not alone.
It's always possible "the world" will be watching so not being together is the reality. I love to hear others explain the song with such honesty. Thank you.

Probably my second favorite off the new album with the first being "Sun." This song hits home as I feel like I'm in a similar situation... hopeless, unrequited love.
I think he's single and sees people in happy, healthy relationships and feels trapped in a "spell" of unrequited love, or a love that once existed between two people but not anymore. He feels the world watching, waiting for him to find a person to settle with.
In the second verse, he's talking directly to the person he loves. Perhaps she's in a relationship with someone else and no longer has feelings for him.
The third verse makes me think they were once together. He's cherishing all their memories and tells her he'll always love her. She'll never be alone.
