I'm better than the other one
You're a harder chase
You're fast against mine
I'll beat it, you're the weaker one
That's another case
I'll taste the last line
I will take you to the other side
I will set you up
You're fast against mine
I will tear you from the other one
It's a bitter race
You're frail

I am stronger than the other ones
I will set them off
Don't try to fight me
I will break you either way it seems
It's a testimony
To how this will end
I'll stop it when I've finally won
I'll take you down somehow
I will stay till I'm the only one
That's another case
You failed

And you feel you've lost it
And you know you lost it

Tell me I'm the only one
Though it's not the same
You're fast against mine
Tell me I'm the only one
It's a better place
You're mine completely
Tell me I'm the only one
You give me hope somehow
Tell me I'm the only one
That's another case
You feel so empty

Tell me I'm the only one, the only one
Tell me I'm the only one, the only one

    My Opinion

I recently found this song on youtube, and I have to admit, that i've come to really love it.

In my opinion I think the song is about a boyfriend, who hasn't gotten over his last girlfriend. That's why she is asking to "tell me i'm the only one". She is trying to gain this guy, however he is still so in love with this other girl.

    "I'm better than the other one" {the other girl he's in love with}

"Tell me i'm the only one though it's not the same". She knows he's lying. For the other girl is still in his heart. It's not the same when he says it to her, because she can hear that he still loves the other girl, and therefore the way he says she's the 'only one' she knows that it's 'not the same'. Also their relationship will never be the same as his other love, and that's another reason that it's 'not the same'. She's acknowledging the fact that he may not love, in the same way as he loved his past love.

"I'll beat it, you're the weaker one" she's willing to do whatever to 'beat' this other girl, who has broken his heart.

"I will stay til i'm the only one" for though he is in love with another girl she is willing to stay, until she is his 'only one'.

"I will break you either way it seems I'll stop it when i've finally won" She is trying to win his heart, despite the fact it's broken, however she knows that she may break his heart by trying to repair it, and she'll stop when she's 'won'.

Anyways but that's my opinion of the song. : )

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
