Coming Down Lyrics
It's caving in around me
What I thought was solid ground
I tried to look the other way
But I couldn't turn around
It's ok for you to hate me
For all the things I've done
I've made a few mistakes
But I'm not the only one
Step away from the ledge
I'm coming down
I could never be
What you want me to
You pulled me under
To save yourself
(Save yourself)
You will never see
What's inside of me
I pulled you under just to save myself
Was there ever any question
On how much I could take?
You kept feeding me your bullshit
Hoping I would break
Is there anybody out there?
Is there anyone who cares?
Is there anybody listening?
Will they hear my final prayers?
Step away from the ledge
I'm coming down
I could never be
What you want me to
You pulled me under
To save yourself
(Save yourself)
You will never see
What's inside of me
I pulled you under just to save myself
(Save myself)
It's caving in around me
(Caving in)
It's tearing me apart
(Tearing me)
It's all coming down around me
(Coming down)
Does anyone
Anyone
Care at all?
I will never be
What you want me to
You pulled me under
I pulled you under
I could never be
What you want me to
You pulled me under
To save yourself
(Save yourself)
You will never see

that's what i thought until i found this,
This musical suicide note was released as the third single from American Capitalist. The song was Five Finger Death Punch's thirteenth single overall. Ivan Moody sings on the chorus, "Step away from the ledge. I'm coming down." The band partnered with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in conjunction with the single's release. Part of their promotion, which is aimed at awareness about suicide prevention among FFDP's fans, involves the song's music video, which concludes with a call to action alongside the lifeline's national phone number.
Okay I'll take a crack at this one (my best guess, I could be wrong let's see).
From how I understand this song, he's pretty much telling the person to stop faking who they are lying about it, and they need to stop trying to make others be like they want.
So maybe about independence, not following the cool crowd and being an image someone else wants.
Anyone else getting this out of the song? Or am I off?
i was thinking the same thing, about independence and not following a crowd

@Ange1ofD4rkness - You really need to watch the video on 5FDPVEVO YouTube page. It is not about following a crowd. At that it is more about living outside the crowd. It is a song about standing on the ledge (i.e. suicide, ready to jump) and how one friend can pull you down off of the ledge and back to solid ground and safety. It is saying that we all need to have that friend that keeps us stable, but we also have to be that friend. The video is VERY powerful. If you have...

It is very graphic and shows two teens committing suicide. It then show the events leading up to them doing so down to deciding, planning, and prepping. It then shows friends intervening at the last second and thus unknowing saving the teen's lives. It ends with the message "ONE FRIEND CAN SAVE A LIFE" and follows up with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline contact information.
Like I said, very powerful. Every parent of a teenager needs to watch it and then sit down and watch it with their teen and then discuss it. I would go so far as to say it should be shown in school as part of health class and then an open discussion on suicide.
I was unsure of this songs full meaning until I watched the video. 5FDP makes it very, very clear. ok so let me get this straight... five finger death punch and (shot me later ok!!!) good charlotte both have songs saying NO to suicide, and trying to tell people it gets better more or less.. yet literally NOBODY has commented on this song, but everyone comments on "hold on" by good charlotte?? anyone want to tell me what the heck is wrong with this picture?
Suicide. Duh. The first line is about someone talking to their old ex-friend (Didn't meantion a lover, retard.) about a past big mistake that ended their good friendship and he/she reminding that friend about others that did a bad mistake as well and that he/she isn't the only one. Second line, he/she is obviously gonna fall off a cliff and commit suicide. Third line, he/she is trying to mend their broken friendship. Forth, that pain of harming their friend is killing them and he/she calling out for help. And the rest seems that he/she is very selfish.
So basically, my theory is that he hung out with friends that made his life bad (made him mad, took advantage of him, etc.) and he's making this song for them Another idea is that it talks about suicide awareness since the music video has 2 people trying to die. Hope that helps a little
Now knowing it's about suicide. Though when I first heard this song I felt a strong connection as standing faithfully, devoted by your spouse's side while their struggling. Forgiving them for demeaning you in front of others, forgiving them for their infidelity, believing in them & your marriage that it is possible to be more than she ever imagined but you have to be able to not only give love but willingly receive love. Going through heart wrenching times as your being manipulate & gas lighted. Unbeknownst because you became vulnerable for your spouse believing this is the way for emotional intimacy. Not until your destroyed & eyes open you understand she purposely tried to manipulate you hoping you would behave same & leave so they outwardly was a victim. You never blamed or behaved wrongly. You did the Right Thing believing in your Vow's. Your love was real, Always by their side while they pulled & pulled you off the cliff into the abyss with them. Did it make a difference? In the End. You were forced to walk away from edge because they cut the rope. Standing alone, Smear campaign in full effect. They burned the bridge making sure it was impossible for you to cross. Now your hated. Their full of spite & bitterness. They have isolated you because when they see you or hear your name they are reminded with the weight of their guilt. Nobody wins. I listened to this song Non-Stop along with Chalk Outline by Three Days Grace. Helped me through many nights.

Shut up, shut the fuck up!
Wait, what...?
I said shut your fucking mouth.
Simple meaning, it's all about not sharing your food with your kids. The guy was hungry, then found out that his parents have eaten all the food, so instead of selling his gun, he used it to shoot himself in frustration.
Step away from the ledge, I'm coming down - this is what he used to tell his girlfriend who dances on the ledge all night, he wants to have sex and go down on her..
@masturbator - I think you took a song with a very powerful and important message and decided to be a jerk and attempt to damage or remove that. I wonder why. Did the song hit too close to home? Are you hurting? If so, please get help.
