Interesting you put it that way (I had to skim this cause I am reading it in class), but it was because of my class that I remembered this page. The Disney parts are what are catching my eye, I am taking a class about Disney, and my god this man risked losing his company countless times taking risks to make the films we have come to enjoy. But also he has created this cultural icons such as Mickey Mouse, Disneyland. Some of these items (or many of them) from both parts are also cultural images of the American life. I mean it's said that the US is the biggest culutral melting pot in the world, so we have these (I see NASCAR for instance or Smith and Wesson). Also I wonder if the song points out we fought for thee, we got our freedom and fought for it and this is what we got to show it, what we get to enjoy. Also remember the album is called American Capitalism, which follows the concept if you want smething you need to work hard for it. Then you have the Occupy Wallstreet which I feel is turning into a movement for Socialism (where people are lazy and don't want to work for anything ... but have it given to them) So maybe you should look at some of the song as saying he worked hard to enjoy these luxuries. That would explain the scar part. We found to earn these, both our freedom, but also working hard to enjoy these luxuries (a job). I mean for instance I work a job I hate everyday, but I need the money so I suck it up and work hard to enjoy and live on. Remember it's called "The Pride". Also there's the "I'm not afraid of dying". Once again he's not afraid to fight for what he wants. So we have not only working hard to enjoy many of the items we consider part of the American culture, we also fight hard to enjoy these (including our freedom). Oh also what about fighting for what we believe in like government wise (sorry if these seems scattered again writing this in class) |

In my understanding this song is pretty much supporting American Capitalism, aka work for what you want (which in my opinion people have forgotten about ... I remember of the head of Jack Daniels mentioned that it use to be if you wanted money you had to work for it ... now it's give me). I really think 5FDP sings about some serious issues today ("Death Before Dishonor", no one seems to be an honor code; "No One Gets Left Behind", well that's self explained; "Under and Over It", simply 5FDP showing they are doing what they enjoy and not just trying to sell out ... something that is happening to much and ruining it for others) |

Okay I actually got a new understanding for this song. Similar to what sgtlegendkiller said it has to deal with the American image. After listening to this song though I see it as, "This is the American image, you have to earn it but once you do take pride in it". That whole part about the strongest surviving is what makes me think this. The only line that keeps throwing me off is that one that mentions anarchy. |

After you said this I looked at it the same way. But also wouldn't it also say (excuse me if I sound arrogant) America is the strong survivor. In otherwords America is the Strongest, and we will survive. Am I on track, anyone else? |

Yes this song is about religion, and is probably one of the few songs I can't listen to from Five Finger Death Punch. Why? Well I'll admit it I am a strong Roman Catholic and while I have nothing against the group (I love all there other music, even going to there concert) the words aren't that positive towards faith. ALSO this is not pinned on one religion, it's all religions. But hey that's my opinion, and if they choose to sing about this, I have nothing against it (I can choose not to listen and no one is offended) |

Okay I'll take a crack at this one (my best guess, I could be wrong let's see). From how I understand this song, he's pretty much telling the person to stop faking who they are lying about it, and they need to stop trying to make others be like they want. So maybe about independence, not following the cool crowd and being an image someone else wants. Anyone else getting this out of the song? Or am I off? |

Okay this song is my theme song ... the title says it "Death Before Dishonor". More and more I see people cheating, and lying and such to succeed, and it sickens me (hell this is why we are in the economic crisis ... don't believe me, watch the movie "Inside Job"). Thank god someone sees in living by an honor code. Doing what's right and earning what they deserve fair and square. I fight to live by an honor code, and I make sure others know it. So I say it "Death Before Dishonor" |
