My hands are cold
My body's numb
I'm still in shock
What have you done
My head is pounding
My vision's blurred
Your mouth is moving
I don't hear a word

And it hurts so bad
That I search my skin
For the entry point
When love went in
And ricocheted
And bounced around
And left a hole when you walked out yeah

I'm falling through the doors of the emergency room
Can anybody help me with these exit wounds
I don't know how much more love, this heart can lose
And I'm dying, dying from these exit wounds
Wounds, when they're leaving, the scars you're keeping
Exit wounds, when they're leaving, the scars you're keeping

Marks a battle
Still feel raw
A million pieces of me
On the floor
I'm damaged goods
For all to see
Now who would ever want to be with me

I've got all the baggage
Drink the pills
Yeah this is living but without the will
I'm blacking out
I'm shutting down
You've left a hole
When you walked out yeah

I'm falling through the doors of the emergency room
Can anybody help me with these exit wounds
I don't know how much more love this, heart can lose
And I'm dying, dying from these exit wounds
Wounds, when they're leaving, the scars you're keeping
Exit wounds
When they're leaving, the scars you're keeping yeah

Lose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
Lose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
Lose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
Lose your clothes and show your scars

Marks a battle
Still feel raw
A million pieces of me
On the floor

I'm falling through the doors of the emergency room
Can anybody help me with these exit wounds
I don't know how much more love this, heart can lose
And I'm dying, dying from these exit wounds
Wounds, when they're leaving, the scars you're keeping
Exit wounds
When they're leaving, the scars you're keeping

    My Interpretation

This song is most possibly, if not definitely about what a guy goes through after a breakup.

Whether the mistake is on either side, when we leave a relationship, we are always bombarded with feelings of insecurity, because something that completed you before has left and become a fragment of the past, a memory. We aren't designed to always look forward, and most of the time we drown in our sorrow, every time we fail to look forward and reflect on the past instead.

In this song, it seems that the girl was the one who called for the breakup.

My hands are cold My body's numb I'm still in shock What have you done My head is pounding My vision's blur Your mouth is moving I don't hear a word

When she breaks it to him, that she wants a breakup.

And it hurts so bad That I search my skin For the entry point Where love went in And ricocheted And bounced around And left a hole when you walked out

Describing the feelings that roars in us after a breakup.

I'm falling through the doors of the emergency room Can anybody help me with these exit wounds I don't know how much more love, this heart can lose And I'm dying, dying from these exit wounds Wooooounds, where their leaving, the scars you're keeping Exit wounds

His cry out to the world, a plead for help. When we lose somebody, we lose ourselves, and we struggle with reality and ourselves.

Marks a battle Still feel raw A million pieces of me On the floor I'm damaged goods For all to see Now who would ever want to be with me

I've got all the baggage Drink the pills Yeah this is living but without the will Blacken out I'm shutting down You've left a hole You walked out

Describing his breakdown after she leaves. Taking pills, not having a will to live, breaking down (shutting down), realizing that there's a gaping hole in their life.

Loose your clothes and show your scars That's who you are Loose your clothes and show your scars That's who you are Loose your clothes and show your scars That's who you are Loose your clothes and show your scars That's who you are

His way of trying to recover, trying to survive after.

Marks a battle Still feel raw A million pieces of me On the floor

    Pretty self-explanatory.

It's really devastating to go through a break up, and I myself am actually just broken up. Was my mistake, and it was just inevitable that she called for it. We make mistakes, and we don't look back - but somehow, life has its way of making us pay for them.

I like this song especially the line, "Yeah this is living but without the will" in the middle of the song.

I think that line encompasses the entire feeling of the song, of being numb, walking around without any feelings at all because he just lost someone very important.

Sometimes breakups hit people hard, sounds like he hit rock bottom with this one.

i think this song is about that feeling you get rigth after your heart gets shattered in a million pieces . you just fill like there 's this huge hole in side of you that will never be able to be healed again . it 's the type of wound that even the emergency room can 't fix . it 's about trying to move on even with a broken heart that feels like it will ne heal . the part " loose your clothes and show your scars that 's who you are " symbolizes to me that we are sometimes defined by these scars . not the clothes that we wear or anything else ; sometimes we 're defined by our broken heart .

Like everyone is saying. I think it's about being so deeply in love with someone and when this person leaves you, you're never the same. You're left with scars from the "Exit Wounds". Quite a beautifully emotional song. Really tugs at the heart strings...

Maybe not a suicide attempt, I think the analogy is between being heartbroken and being so severely physically wounded that you need to be hospitalised. "Left a hole when you walked out" says quite literally that he's hurting because she left him.

And the lines "Marks of battle / Still feel raw" illustrates the similar impacts of physical fights and emotional fights.

One of my favourites on the album for sure. :)

My mom and I were listening to XM Radio one day and The Script were being interviewed on there just before this album came out, and the lead singer actually explained what this song was about. He said it was how when someone comes into your life, they come in through a small opening, but when they leave, they leave behind a hole in you where they used to be, hence the title, 'Exit Wounds'.

i really like the part ''it hurts so bad That I search my skin For the entry point Where love went in And ricocheted And bounced around And left a hole when you walked out'' couse its so spot on. you find love, its good for a while, but then love ricochet and leaving you hurt.

I think it has to do with rape or sexual assault, or it could at least relate to that. If you think about it,

    Song Meaning

I'm pretty sure what Danny means by "Exit Wounds" is that he was with a girl for a long time and was shot by the bullet of love (metaphorical) and when she broke his heart that bullet came out through another hole (again, metaphorical). Him asking for help means that he's trying to find closure. It's such a beautiful song. I mean, a very few artists make good music with such deep lyrics.

    Song Meaning

i think the song may be about selfharm or something along the lines of getting hurt. so they are singing about getting hurt by love and maybe to deal with the loss he has started cutting or something like that. or maybe the pain from the loss has caused him to go crazy so he has gone to hospital to get help wit his selfharm or to stop him from going crazy.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
