GO!

[Chorus]
If you close your eyes, your life will make the truth reveal
Dreams you never lived, and scars never heal
In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
And find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes
If you just close your eyes
If you just close your eyes

[Verse 1]
Deceived by my eyes and all I was told I should see
Opinions not mine, the person they taught me to be
One night in the dark, a vision of someone I knew
And then in the darkness I saw, a voice say, "I'm you"
Inside me a light was turned on, then I was alive

[Chorus]
If you close your eyes, your life will make the truth reveal
Dreams you never lived, and scars never heal
In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
And find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes

[Verse 2]
Hearts uninspired, trapped inside somebody's dream
Too close to the fire, yet cold and numb with the pain
But the fever has broken and the river has run to the sea
Washed to the ocean and saved by a voice inside me

[Chorus]
If you close your eyes, your life will make the truth reveal
Dreams you never lived, and scars never heal
In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
And find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes

[Bridge]
Never thought I would be here, so high in the air
This was my unanswered prayer.
Defined by another, so much wasted time
Out of the darkness, each breath that I take will be mine

[Chorus]
If you close your eyes, your life will make the truth reveal
Dreams you never lived, and scars never heal
In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
And find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes
If you just close your eyes
If you just close your eyes!

This is a cover from Waterproof Blonde, and is the theme song of Christian, a WWE star, and is made just for him, because the Waterproof Blonde version was made also for him, just the story of the year version was made for his comeback.

I always thought that the song meant this: There are so many people trying to force you to see what they see and be someone your not in this world. It's saying if you close your eyes you see what you want to see and who you are. The song tells of the realization of someone who was a pawn but took controll of his/her life. It's a deep song with a great meaning and riff. Utmost respect to SOTY and Jim Johnson.

    Song Meaning

This is one of my favorite songs by Story Of the Year and definitely gets the adrenaline going. I think the meaning behind this song is that we can't live under the label of others, and can not find peace and passion until we find ourselves, and that ultimately the way you live and the choices you make determine who you really are. I love the quote, "In the darkness light will take you to the other side," it's so profound, and in my opinion it's a way of saying even in the darkest time, the light, or what I refer to as God, will take us and shape us into people of passion, desire, and purpose.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
