Collapsing (feat. Björn "Speed" Strid) Lyrics
I, I see the weight of hollow death residing in you
Take now your final breath
Exhale the truth
I see the fear of nothing left
Dead fragments of youth
You hold it in yourself
I feel it too
I mourn your blindness
I die along
And swallow darkness
In misery is where I belong
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
I, I know the light is burning dim and dying in you
I know the pain that lies within
I feel it too
I mourn your blindness
I die along
And swallow darkness
In misery is where I belong
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
Take now your final breath
Exhale the truth
I see the fear of nothing left
Dead fragments of youth
You hold it in yourself
I feel it too
I die along
And swallow darkness
In misery is where I belong
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
I know the pain that lies within
I feel it too
I die along
And swallow darkness
In misery is where I belong
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny
I don't know why I try (I try)
Collapsing in on yourself
I don't know why you deny

"When you get to a certain age, it seems like all of your peers have made up their minds regarding most issues of faith, and sometimes relaying the truth of Christ to these people may seem like a lost cause. This song is about never giving up that fight to reach these people. Even if their hearts have been hardened to the truth, it’s important for us, as believers, to continue to fight for these lost souls. The lyrics of the bridge are "No vow of silence, no remission of truth." This should be our stance in regard to sharing our faith with others."
"Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble." - 1 John 2:10
To me this song is almost addressed to humanity, we are choking on our own medicine as it were; collapsing in on ourselves. The fact is most people blindly follow what they're told and are controlled by any of a number of other sources than themselves. Sadly, most people are gone long before they're dead... and seeing this more and more causes him pain and he feels himself slowly dying with those around him.
Seems to me that it's about trying to save someone from depression and suicide, and it's obviously not working. Trying and trying to help them but they refuse to see it any other way than the way they do. They've shut themselves to what they believe the only thing they think will 'save' them. No matter how much effort is given, they just keep going down that road, Dragging the one trying to help to an equally depressed state.
I'm not really religious, but I've seen what it can do for people. It provides hope that many people need. Gives them something to live for...
Damn this song struck a chord with me. Really personal.
What a great song to use as their first single from this album.
This song seems to be about giving up on life. Perhaps a tragic event occurred that sparked this feeling. It's one of those things that when it goes wrong it feels like nothing else in this world really matters anymore, even if you have so much to live for. Something may have happened in which the character could have prevented it but failed to do so and now cannot live with him/herself.

After the 2nd chorus, they say:
No vow of silence No remission of truth
i think there are two versions of this song. i heard one where they say that and theres a little more screaming ish stuff in the chorus and another version where there isn't either one of those things. I like the first one better (the one thats in their video)

Oh for Christ's sake... like most Atheists are fucking consumed by darkness and lie awake, silently screaming nihilism at the ceiling? -_- I like the song and think this is a bunch of talented guys, and I'm all for religious pride and passion, but don't spread malice and hate. Most atheists are happy, well-adjusted people with functioning morals. We don't need the stigmatisation and the vilification which comes from told you're a disordered and morally corrupt individual~ badly paraphrasing Stephen Fry on being gay, and it also applies to Atheists like myself.
