Well, caught in the middle of a teenage love affair
Kids get it the worst, you know
She was 16, her parents couldn't take her anywhere
She'd already started to show
She had Amy inside of her
Amy, you gotta let it go
You would think she didn't want you
But how could that be so?

So the daughter let her hair down, just like her mama did
The couple didn't stand a chance
In anything and everything, looking out for God-forbid
But man, could the girl dance
And it was a family
And the family, last time I checked
Was a group of people who give you love
When you least expect

So the parents split-up like the whole Grand Canyon
The story unfolds some more
You can't please your mother and your father wasn't there for you
Now, the brother you adore is saying
"Amy, you used to
Carry me underneath your arm
And maybe your little brother knows
That you can't cover up the scars

And it had nothing to do with you
And it had nothing to do with me
And it had nothing to do with love."
Maybe that's the craziest thing in the whole biography
Oh yeah

So, the feelings buried, lit a fuse to the bomb
And the daughter got far away
She always was a fighter with an agony inside her
And you can hear what her daughter says
She says, "Mommy
Why are you so angry?
And it's time that you stopped blaming me and everybody else
Maybe someday you'll forgive yourself."

And the family
And the family, last time I checked
Is a group of people who give you love
When you least expect
For this heart that we can not protect
For this heart that we can not protect
I got this love and this great respect
For this heart that we can not protect
Yeah

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
