Mmm-mmm-mmm, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, ooh

Yeah, I feel I'm watered down
Whenever he's around
I put on the crown of clowns
And melt slowly to the ground

Yeah, I feel it coming on
When I've been static for too long
And an explosion comes in time
Before I go and cross the line

They say you used to be so kind
I never knew you had such a dirty mind
Well, I went to the doctors believing
The devil had control over me and
I was finding it hard to breathe in
Finding it hard to fight the feeling

When my heart just burst like a glass balloon
I let it fly too high and it shattered too soon
I was the wrong damn girl in the wrong damn room
I broke my glass balloon
I let go of my glass balloon

Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh

They call him Hermit the Frog
He's looking for a dog
Did you find your bitch in me?
Oh, you're abominable, socially
You're just a little bit too much like me

She says you used to be so kind
Well, baby, I give you your dirty mind
Well, I, I wanna tell you a secret
You can take your double standard love and keep it
I can't help the devil likes to make my heart a double bed
And I can't help he sometimes like to come
And rest his little head

When my heart just burst like a glass balloon
I let it fly too high and it shattered too soon
I was the wrong damn girl in the wrong damn room
I broke my glass balloon
I let go of my glass balloon

Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh, oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh, oh, oh-oh

Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum
Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum
Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum
Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum

Oh, my heart just burst like a glass balloon
We let them fly too high and they shattered too soon
Are we the wrong damn people in the wrong damn room?
We broke our glass balloons
We let go of our glass balloons

We broke our glass balloons
Let go of my glass balloon

    My Interpretation

i feel like this song is about how she likes a guy who is basically just a scumbag. like she's talking about his double standards and asking him if he found a bitch in her. but she's also saying that the devil likes to make her heart a double bed, so like her and the guy. and also she always is mentioning the devil so its like she knows that hes a horrible person but some evil force is compelling her to like him despite his not-so-redeeming qualities. and "glass balloon" is really just her heart.

thats what i think anyways... i'm no good at this analyzing stuff :(

    My Interpretation

i think the song is about jealousy.

basically she likes a guy and he at some point corresponded it, but soon he traded her for another girl (kind of explicit in the demo version when she says "Think before you blurt out the words you say to her/Because next week you'll be over her").

she still has feelings for him and whenever he's with the other girl she feels extremely jealous and she can't control it and that makes her feel weak. people around her noticed she was acting weird, maybe getting sad or angry for "apparently no reason" (obviously it was the jealousy consuming her), and since she's often portrayed as a good and kind girl, they started saying ("you used to be so kind/ I never knew you had such a dirty mind").

she went to the doctor, probably a psychiatrist, because she was having all these bad thoughts she never had before and it felt like the devil had possessed her. she used to have control over her bad thoughts and feelings but now she can't help but be extremely jealous over this girl ("Finding it hard to fight the feeling")

she gave all her heart to the guy and he left her sooner than she expected. she previously knew the guy and must've seen this girl coming, but she still had hopes that he'd fall for her and gave it all to him (notices how she blames herself for her broken-heart "I broke my glass balloon/I let go of my glass balloon")

he's a loner and he "was looking for a dog" = somebody to play with. she wonders if he found his "bitch" in her because she feels like he played with her feelings. she says she's loner just like him, implying she has a lot more in common with him than this other girl.

the other girl is proud of making her jealous and brags that around ("you used to be so kind/Well baby I give you your dirty mind"). marina says that logically he should love/like her more than this other girl, because they knew each other for a long time and this girl just appeared out of the blue. she's become sassy and telling people (maybe the guy?) things she shouldn't about this girl and she can't help it because "the devil" (jealousy) has control of her heart.

at the end, she kind of gives us advice. the chances of having a "sooner" heart-break and losing control of our feelings are higher if we give ourselves to someone all at once :-)

I really love the meaning of this song. Also, when someone is going through a heartbreak or someone who thinks that a guy/girl was their everything but ending up being nothing but mean to them. Some people fall in love with others easy, even if they want to help it they can't. Because simply, you can't help who you love. Most of the time, the other doesn't feel the same and that's where the chorus comes in. "Well, my heart just burst like a glass balloon, I let it fly too high and it shattered too soon. I was the wrong damn girl, in the wrong damn room, I broke my glass balloon, I let go of my glass balloon." I love the metaphors. She's saying her heart is fragile and she let's, and can't help, herself fall in love. And when you're in love, if they don't come out and say they don't feel the same. You have hope and positivity. So when they say they don't feel the same, it breaks. She's saying she gets hurt and falls in love easy.

For me this song clearly represents her issues with mental health and mental instability.when she says " I went to the doctor believing the devil had control over me" she talks about her own mental problems she might have had.I don`t know too much about her private life but for me this is the interpretation making the most sense. when she talks about the "glass balloon" she means her psyche and how she maybe let herself go to far away partying, doing drugs or whatever and how it crashed then.I think its plausible that with hermit she means either the devil or her mental illness.

watered down crown of clowns *ecstatic...above all things, I think lyric-interpreter heard a different version than that on the album.

no one's yet commented on this piece of brilliance? clearly about someone who falls for a bastard who only uses for sex, or something else which deprives values.

glass balloon - I think it's the fragility of love or what-you-yourself-would-call-it, that precarious feeling you feel for someone...great analogy.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
