I've been bruised and I've been broken
Can't believe that I put up with all this pain
I've been used and I was choking on the promise
I would never fall again

I used to sing to your twisted symphony
The words that had me trapped inside your misery
But now I know
The reason why I couldn't breathe

Cause all I want is everything you're not
So go ahead and slam the door
Cause you can't shut me out
And no I don't, I don't care what you say
Cause all I really, all I really want
Is everything you're not

Everything you're not not not

Your darkness was my weakness but it turns out
That it only went so deep
A meaningless diversion that is all that you
Ever meant to me

And I am done with your twisted symphony
The words that had me sound like stolen poetry
I tore the pages and I can finally breathe

Cause all I want is everything you're not
So go ahead and slam the door
Cause you can't shut me out
And no I don't, I don't care what you say
Cause all I really, all I really want
Is everything you're not

I want a gentleman who treats me like a queen
I need respect, I need love
Nothing in between

I will not spell it out for you if you can't see
Cause you're not worthy, you don't deserve me
A now I'm gone

Everything you're not, not, not
Everything you're not, not, not

Cause all I want is everything you're not
So go ahead and slam the door
Cause you can't shut me out
And no I don't, I don't care what you say
Cause all I really, all I really want
Is everything you're not

Never gonna break my heart again
Never gonna see your face again
Never wanna feel this way again

would you consider this song a heartbreak song or a love song or both?

This song is about a guy who continuously led her on ('I used to sing to your twisted symphony, the words that had me sound like stolen poetry). however, he was hurting her and hurting her and eventually she decides that he's not worth all the heartbreak. she wants someone who will respect her and who won't hurt her like he has; basically, she wants someone who is everything that the guy wasn't for her.

I can really relate to this song, so it's one of my favorites from her.

He has hurt her feelings over and over again. All she wants is for him to be everything is he isn't.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
