You owe it to the willing souls,
To the white light.
Double bluff and figure:
An Eye for an Eye.

We go into the TV,
To the motherland smile,
Apocalypse and rapture psyche in:
An Eye For An Eye.

If you're not with us you're a ghost.
An Eye for an Eye.

We owe it to disaster.
To the black fire.
The anger and enclosure of desire.
An Eye for an Eye.

We owe it to the sex toys,
To the icons of our time,
Humility and torture in decline:
An Eye for an Eye.

If you're not with us you're a ghost.
An Eye for an Eye.

If you're not with us you're a ghost.
Eye for an Eye.
Eye for an Eye.

We owe it to the TV,
To disaster,
To the motherland smile,
To the willing souls,
To the willing souls,
To the willing souls!

Chris about song: This is a challenge . I think it shows a subconsciously political side of IAMX. I am generally unnerved by what i see in the world or what i am forced to see by ignorant, money driven indecent humans. It is everywhere, everyday in my face. This dis-functional electronic experiment is my way of trying to focus my negative energy, or let it go, however you want to see it. Scratchy guitars, wrong notes, hard drums.Fuck you and fuck the world. Revenge against the willing souls and the white lies.

I'm not sure, but I think that it's rather "white lie" than "white light". Am I wrong?

today chris has written to the myspace blog as follows:

"D.I.Y TRIBES AND THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CORPORATE MOST PEOPLE ARE LAZY AND TALK WITHOUT DOING. PARTICULARLY MUSICIANS. I AM HOPEFUL THE INDEPENDENT D.I.Y CULTURE THAT HAS BEEN OPENED UP BY THE INTERNET CAN BE ONE OF THE SAVING GRACES OF HUMAN AND ARTISTIC LETHARGY. I FEEL THAT, IN THESE INSPIRING BUT WORRYING TIMES, WE HAVE A CHANCE TO CLEANSE AND REINVENT OURSELVES. WE, AS LAZY ARTIST HUMAN FUCKERS MUST BE DRIVEN BY A WILL TO THINK HARDER AND DIVERSIFY. TO REVEL IN THE DIFFICULTY AND CHAOS OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND LIFE IN GENERAL. BEING IN THIS UNIQUE MOMENT IN HISTORY OF INSANE TECHNOLOGY, I SEE A BRAIN EXPLODING WORLD OF ENDLESS CREATIVE AND GUERRILLA POSSIBILITY. THE MUSIC, THE ARTIST, THE AUDIENCE ALL BECOMING INTERTWINED IN A SWEATY HYPERACTIVE TRIBE. A MORE HONEST AND SYMBIOTIC SYSTEM THAN THE ANTIQUATED MONSTER COLLAPSING AROUND US AS WE SPEAK. YOU WILL NOT BE POISONED AND SOLD SHIT THAT YOU CAN'T BARE TO HEAR AND WE CAN EXPERIMENT, BE SELF INDULGENT AND FEED OUR FRAGILE EGOS FOREVER AND EVER. UTOPIA.

I THINK I KNOW YOU. I THINK, LIKE ME, YOUR PATIENCE HAS BEEN TRIED LONG ENOUGH. I THINK YOU CAN'T STAND TO WATCH ANOTHER PATHETIC DISPLAY OF TV REALITY OR CNN LIES OR MIND NUMBING BANALITY. OF ABUSIVE ADVERTISING, OF DISTURBING POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS MANIPULATION. THE MEDIA, THE CHURCHES AND THE BANKS CONTROL THE WORLD, BUT THE INTERNET CAN SAVE US. IT IS GIGANTIC FREE OPEN INFORMATION. LEARN MORE. ACCELERATE YOUR AWARENESS OF THIS RIDICULOUS SITUATION WE LIVE IN. I AM NOT PARTICULARLY BOTHERED ABOUT SAVING MOST OF THE PLANETS' PEOPLE-DISEASE BUT I DO HAVE THE HEART FOR SOME OF THE BEST ONES. I KNOW THERE IS GOOD AND GREATNESS OUT THERE. I SEE IT IN YOU. IF THE INCREDIBLE POWERS OF ART AND NATURE AND ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL ARE TO PREVAIL IT WILL BE THROUGH THE CUNNING AND STRENGTH OF THE FEW TRIBES THAT, LIKE OURS, ACTUALLY GIVE A FUCK ABOUT BEING ALIVE AND NOT MONEY NOR POWER NOR PETTY IGNORANCE AND UNPROVABLE FAITH TIME WASTING. THE WORLD IS BECOMING FLAT AGAIN. IF YOU'RE NOT WITH US YOU'RE AGAINST."

    so..

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
