Sinkemlow Lyrics

Oh I ain't jokin' when I'm tellin' ya
That while in the Yakima
Diggin' up them thunder-egg stones

Well we cracked 'em wide open
The mountain started smokin'
And the sky turned the color of a crow
(Ohh Ohh)

Fires in the northlands
Floods to the south
Put the pedal to the metal
And let it all hang out

(oh no, oh no)
Fires in the northlands
(oh no, oh no)
Floods to the south
(oh no, oh no)
Put the pedal to the metal
(oh no, oh no)
Let it all hang out

The ash turned to confetti (Alleluia)
Outside them great tri-cities (Alleluia)
And God showed his great mercy (Alleluia)
Turned ash into confetti (Alleluia)

Handkerchiefs on coughin' mouths
Running to the full hotels
Left us with no other place but home
And in the distance
Tail lights came and went
Sometimes as eyes of Vulcan sorcery
(Ohh Ohh)

Fires in the northlands
Floods to the south
Put the pedal to the metal
And let it all hang out

(oh no, oh no)
Fires in the northlands
(oh no, oh no)
Floods to the south
(oh no, oh no)
Put the pedal to the metal
(oh no, oh no)
And let it all hang out

The ash turned to confetti (Alleluia)
Outside them great tri-cities (Alleluia)
And God showed his great mercy (Alleluia)
Turned ash into confetti (Alleluia)

Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe we'll make it to that rise
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe we'll see another sun rise Oh yeah

The ash turned to confetti (Alleluia)
Outside them great tri-cities (Alleluia)
And God showed his great mercy (Alleluia)
Turned ash into confetti (Alleluia)
Turned ash into confetti (Alleluia)
Outside them great tri-cities (Alleluia)
And God showed his great mercy (Alleluia)
Turned ash into confetti (Alleluia)

Alleluia
Alleluia

i found the lyrics for Sinkemlow (jam room)

In a shallow grave, we dug for thundereggs In the Yakima, with the rattlesnake When we came out, to unload the mother stone Day was night, wind was warm and birds they did not sing

Run son, get on in We must get to Kennewick Sodom and Gomorrah After this I'll pity them Mountains falling from above Pompeii you have our prayers and love

Handkerchiefs on coughing mouths Running to the full hotels Left us with no other place but home In the distance Tail lights came and went At time as eyes of Vulcan sorcery

Run son, get on in We must get to Kennewick Sodom and Gomorrah After this I'll pity them Mountains falling from above Pompeii you have our prayers and love

Baby, baby, baby, baby I'll make it through the briars Baby, baby, baby, baby we'll see another sunrise Oh yeah

The ash turned to confetti, Alleluia! In the great Tri-cities, Alleluia! Oh God gave his great mercy, Alleluia! Vine, Viche, Veti, Alleluia! Flag marianoalion April 05, 2014

thunder egg stones might be a reference to the mythical 'thunderbirds' of native american origins.

kind of brings up the subject: if your in a tight spot or difficult situation what should you do?

Sinkemlow (from Pure Rock Fury) and Sink 'Em Low (from Jam Room) are two different songs (although they are very similar). The lyrics listed here are for Sinkemlow (Pure Rock Fury). For some reason they remade several of the songs from Jam Room on later albums.

One Eye Dollar (redone on Beale Street) I Send Pictures (became Sleestack Lightning on Strange Cousins) Sinkemlow (became Sink 'Em Low on Pure Rock Fury)

Maybe they just weren't satisfied with the originals.

This is about a vocano erupting (Inspired by the eruption of Mt. Saint Helen) and millions meeting their iminent doom, when all of the sudden the smoke and ash turn into confetti; at least that's what I assume it to be about. This song's refrain always gets a laugh from me, just a little bit of Neil's trademark humor.

*volcano.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderegg - a thunderegg is a rock filled with volcanic ash.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_eruption_of_Mount_St._Helens - In the 1980s Mt. St. Helens erupted and sent ash over much of Washington an as far as Oregon I believe.

This song is a fictionalized (and semi-humorous) account of a real life event. Not to mention a truly kick a$$ tune. Both versions outline the same basic story, Kennewick is one of the Tri-cities in Washington.
