A Dying Ember Lyrics

These darkened days and restless nights

Are passing by
Passing by like never ending years

What is left for me to keep me bearing
up against this pain

Buried deep inside
Inside my soul

And all that's left are memories

These pictures of unworried days

But no one's there to save my legacy

It will just perish, fade with me

fade with me

No one awaits me
nothing diverts me

This withered body is no empty shell

A dying ember

There is my god to carry me,

But in this world, I needed you

No one awaits me
nothing diverts me

This withered body is no empty shell

And my bright eyes still realize your apathy

My heart beats strong, it still beats strong

There is my god to carry me

But in this world, I needed you

What is left for me to keep me bearing up against this pain

There is no god to ease this pain

No one awaits me
nothing diverts me

This withered body is no empty shell

And my bright eyes still realize your apathy

My heart beats strong, it still beats strong

Nothing to live for

Nothing to fight for

And emptiness fills my days

All my hope,
A dying ember
Nothing to live for

Nothing to fight for

And emptiness fills my days

Just promise me
promise me
to hold my hand

maybe instead of "There is my god to carry me", he says "There is no god to carry me", I'm not shure, but if that's what he is singing, than the person doesn't believe in god anymore, because of the pain he/she has to endure

This song is about the elderly and how we cast them aside once they become to old to be of use. The title is a reference to the fact that once this human being was a strong person, now they are old and beginning to die.

all that's left are my memories these pictures of unworried days but no one's there to save my legacy it will just perish, fade with me

no one awaits me, nothing diverts me this withered body is no empty shell a dying ember

there is my god to carry me but in this world, I needed you

These lines show how this person has been abandoned. They can remember a better time when they were younger. They believe in God, but their children no longer care. This person is not dead, yet they are abandoned.

nothing to live for nothing to fight for and emptiness fills my days all my hope, a dying ember just promise me to hold my hand

This shows how the person is near death and they only wanted their children to be there during the last time of their life. The elderly person simply did not want to be alone. Their hope for life is fading.

I think it's about someone whos love died and although he/she believes in god, god can't cure the deep pain he/she has.

i thought he was saying "where is my god to carry me?" but it does sound like TH not WH so never mind

logically it would be probably Where (as a question) but i think "There" is here right.

He affirms "There is my God..." and the next verse is the continuation "But I needed you.... "

So in other words "I have something but I want something else"

well now that i see your guys' opinion, i agree. but when i first heard this song i thought it was about there being no one to carry on his work, as in he doesnt have any family no cousins no kids, no one. and i was just thinkin that the line "what keeps me bearing up against this pain" was just "like what keeps pushing me to keep living when no one will know?" idk. but i like everyone elses comments better than mine.

definitely there is no god to carry me, and it makes sense as well? the line contradict if it is there is my god..? wouldn't you say?

@ forever smaked; pretty sure he is saying there is my god to carry me, once you listen to it a couple of times its quite clear that its TH not WH. and i fail to see how it contradicts itself he is saying that there is god to carry him but that is not good enough, he wants the one he lost back.
