Intruder Alert Lyrics
She said there was no love in her heart,
Cause one day a rapist attacked her and broke that all apart,
She said there was no way to fix it or to cover her scars,
Then one day a guy came along and probably could help her start,
He was sincere, made her believe it was safe for her to trust again,
Before long she was cool with giving hugs to him,
Knew that it was right, cause something was wrong,
The alarms in her mind didn't tell her he didn't belong,
There was no,
Intruder, [x4]
Alert [x4]
He said nobody else ever loved him,
That's why he'd get high enough to go touch the heavens above him,
Vividly remembers every pipe, every needle that stuck him,
Every alley he ever slept in, every purse that he snuck in,
Every level of hell he's been to and the one that he's stuck in,
The one he can't escape, even though it's of his own construction,
Maybe you can relate, maybe you're one of those that just doesn't,
Maybe he doesn't care, loves to allow these demons to come in with no,
Intruder, [x4]
Alert [x4]
Famine striking his home, landing no social standing,
In the econmic pecking order of emergency relief distribution systems,
Is in disorder, he's checking water, making sure it's safe enough for his daughter,
To float across in the boat he built, hopefully strong enough to support her,
Praying border patrols don't catch her and process and deport her,
Before she reach the shore of the land of the free, where they feed you,
Treat you like equals, decieve you, stamp you and call you illegal,
and there's an,

Its slept now stepped
good lookin out, fixed.
easily my favorite song on the cd. so very deep and powerful. In the first verse, I felt for the girl but was glad that she finally found someone who could help her start over again, but the for the longest, from the lines "Knew that it was right, cause something was wrong, The alarms in her mind didn't tell her he didn't belong" I feared that the guy she trusted was actually an intruder, but then realized it was just her finally trusting someone and not automatically rasiing the intruder alert and pushing him away
The second verse was by far my favorite. It's a situation that alot of ppl could be quick to judge but actually have no idea of
the third verse, Lupe certainly puts our ideas on illegal immigration on it's head. I mean, yes you have those with either ill intent and stuff; but you also have those like some from Cuba who have no other choice but do what they have to do for the best welfare and future of their children
Thanks for the lyrics. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I love how he spins the "intruder alert". At first, it's something that you wish had helped the first two people and then he flips it on its head, depending on your stance on immigration. The part at the end with Sarah Green, which I think is equally as moving as Lupe's lyrics. I'm not exactly sure what she says, but it sounds like...
There's someone here, and it's not me How could this be? I locked my doors Kept my armies on my shores Put my rockets in my sky I'm so fortified I built my walls so high So, why, oh why, Are there...
i agree and the last verse was very powerful
Deep song showing the struggles of three very different ppl, a rape victim, a drug addict, and an illegal immagrant perhaps from mexico.
Lupe's content is the most diverse I have heard in rap. He spends more time talking about other ppls struggles than his own. Or himself period.
Ppl like lil wayne, and kanye..... Evern Jay-Z have built their careers on self praise. Lupes is built on shedding light to the struggles of others. That is admirable
I was thinking they could be crossing the rio grande to get into texas.
I really just wanted to add how much I love sarah green in the last verse of the song. Its almost chilling the way she sings it. Even the lyrics themselves are simple yet very powerful
wow what a deep song...its beautiful but touches some really scray situations...one of my favorites and really exposes the deepness of lupes lyrics
the beat for this song is beautiful
as are the lyrics
First verse is my favorite. And it is from Cuba, the Rio Grande is like a couple feet thick. Also, there's no shore, its a river. Shore meaning ocean/sea, meaning Florida I presume. But he's not talking about 'Cuba' per se, he just put that as the location. He's talking about all immigrants who come to America, and their primary reasons for a better life for their children, putting their children before them. The diagnosed problems he listed aren't just of Cuba, they are of a bunch of foreign third world countries, he just picked 'Cuba' in terms of the last part, but the first part is just immigration in general.
Could also mean Haiti or other islands out there

Props to Kutentamen! He is talking about Haiti or another island like that. NOT cuba.
