My mistake
You should never be afraid to cut your losses
Now I know, now I know
It was mine to make
I was putting up a fight for worthless causes
Now I know, just let it go

I was dying for our moment to arrive,
Now I'm running further just to feel alive.

Don't wanna get caught up
Dreaming of your love
'Cause when I open my eyes
There's not a shot in this life
I might as well give up
And save all my good luck
For when I've got the extra change.
You can move aside
'Cause now I'm wide awake

Calling out
You don't even pick it up on nights and weekends
Over and over.

Talk about
Not giving up for all the wrongest reasons
Over and over

How was I misled for so much time?
When it's all been said and done I'll be alright

Don't wanna get caught up
Dreaming of your love
'Cause when I open my eyes
There's not a shot in this life
I might as well give up
And save all my good luck
For when I've got the extra change
You can move aside
'Cause now I'm wide awake

But is it getting any better yet?
Is it getting any better yet?
Is it getting any better yet?

The word is out that I'm not giving in
And if you're ready by now,
Well it's too late to begin

Don't wanna get caught up
Dreaming of your love
'Cause when I open my eyes...

Don't wanna get caught up
Dreaming of your love
'Cause when I open my eyes
There's not a shot in this life
I might as well give up
And save all my good luck
For when I've got the extra change
You can move aside
'Cause now I'm wide awake.

love this song . epitome of my last relationship . to me, it's about a guy who loves his girlfriend & puts a lot of effort into their relationship but he doesn't feel the same coming back from her . so he's gotten to his breaking point . he's wide awake & giving up hope .

I am really into this song, right up until the key change. Too cheesy for my taste.

    Good song though

Could be a break up and the guy is waiting to get back with the girl he's singing about, but he does not want to get caught up again, 'dreaming of [her] love.' He knows he needs to move on. She has led him on, keeping his hopes up for a long time, and he is waiting for it to get better.

    Summing it up.

    He's wide awake now. ;)

Towards the end, he has let go, not giving in to her again.

I think this song could go two ways. it could be about a guy who is dreaming about love from his girlfriend or he is dreaming that the girl he likes and has his eye on, will finally see him as something and go out with him.

He knows there is no shot in this life, that he will be able to get his girlfriend to love him, or that girl to like him. so he's giving up, knowing that the girl is too good to be true for him. She's like a dream. So he's telling himself to wake up (come to reality) and accept that what he wants will never happen, because now he's wide awake.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
