In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Whose fault is it
If one hasn't been here long enough to be happy
â??Cause every day they try with branched thoughts
But they fail in something, They fail to see
Whose fault is it
If one hasn't been here long enough to be happy
â??Cause every day they try with branched thoughts
But they fail in something, They fail to see
That "I'm so fucking tired, Why can't I be alright"
And for those who felt nothing this year
The fall went right through here, And here
And here with the burdens we'll have to take now
To be safe from harm, To get us through
For how long has it been there
My heart's so full of this
No leaves will line the streets
And who could ask for more, Who could ask for more
The world of my soul is all I have
To thank with all of my patience
And I don't wanna follow
The same old goddamn line
â??Cause it would be too much and I would be no more
Then I wouldn't be at all, Then I wouldn't be at all
If one hasn't been here long enough to be happy
â??Cause every day they try with branched thoughts
