My Moon My Man Lyrics
So changeable and
Such a lovable lamb to me.
Leave on a high note.
There's nowhere to go but up.
Not where it should be.
The song's out of key again.
What day and what phase?
It's the calendar page again.
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please
Not as good as we've been
It's the dirtiest clean I know
Leave on a high note
There's nowhere to go
There's nowhere to go
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please
The moon my man
My moon
The moon my man
actually, i found some lyrics that seem a lot more like they should be
My moon, my man So changeable and Such a loveable lamb to me
My care, my coat Leave on a high note There's nowhere to go but on
Heart on my sleeve Not where it should be The song's out of key again
My moon's white face What day and what phase It's the calendar page again
Take it slow Take it easy on me And shed some light Shed some light on me please Take it slow And shed some light Shed some light on me please
My moon and me Not as good as we've been It's the dirtiest clean I know
My care, my coat Leave on a high note There's nowhere to go There's nowhere to go
Take it slow Take it easy on me And shed some light Shed some light on me please Take it slow And shed some light Shed some light on me please
My moon my moon my man My moon my moon my man My moon my moon my man My moon my moon my man
If you seriously think it's about anal sex you're stupid lol
Its about thinking a guy is amazing, but slowly realizing he's not cut out to how he seems to be
moon = time passing, each night, waiting for him. etc.
I highly doubt this song is about anal sex, and I agree with tomorrow, tomorrow. It's about her being in a relationship with a moody guy, so she takes her stuff and tries to leave on a postive note. She compares him to the moon because the moon has phases like he has moods and she "checks the calender" to see what mood he is going to be in, I'm not too sure about the next part it sounds almost like abuse when she says take it easy on me and it's the dirtest clean I know. I'm guessing rape on that part. "My moon and me Not as good as we've been. It's the dirtiest clean I know" They are having problems and I'm guessing it's the best she's had so far.
well-- the time that i had anal sex, he did not take it slow. i should have played this song before we started.
I think it's quite obviously just her comparing her lover/boyfriend/man with the moon. This song is about sex, but 'the dirtiest clean' because it's not loveless sex. He may be a moon because they have sex at night, and he sheds light on her then, when they really connect as people, 'illuminating' her.
She talks like she loves the casual, fun and clean sexual relation they have. The end sounds sounds like her running back home from her 'moon lover's' place?
i could picture leslie feist sitting in a room giggling about all of us silly people wondering about the meaning of this song... and thinking to herself "what idiots! this song is about nothing!"
okay, so these all might be the craziest interpretations of songs i've ever heard. and before you all get offended i didn't say you were wrong, i could just picture you all sitting around like "ooh, yeah, i'm digging this bum sex song" or like "sing it feist, way to express your painful menstrual cycles."
i dunno, it just sounds too pretty to me. kinda jazzy and sweet. i'd guess it's about a relationship with an unreliable guy.
but hell, it could be about recycling for all i know.
Ahahahaha, "sing it feist, way to express your painful menstrual cycles." Perfection.
Ahahahaha, "sing it feist, way to express your painful menstrual cycles." Perfection.
I am totally appalled by how such an emotional song has been compared to anal sex, and menstruation. NO WAY!!
The song is about her boyfriend breaking up with her for reasons beyond what she can comprehend. He just acts up out of nowhere, and eventually dumps her, leaving her lost. "Shed some light on me please" is her begging her boyfriend to give her insight into what's wrong. "Take it slow / take it easy on me" is her pleading with her boyfriend to stop being abusive and threatening and instead be graceful and perhaps discuss things or offer constructive criticism. "Heart on my sleeve / not where it should be" -- she is stating that her boyfriend confuses her with his abuse and neglect, leaving her unable to share mutual love (the heart (love) is on her sleeve (out of place), instead of in her heart (in mutual love)). She compares the moon to her "man" (boyfriend) in that, like the moon, his abuse is part time, and in varying degrees (the moon has it's cycles, and only appears at night).
AND FINALLY, the most rediculously misinterpreted lyric: "Not as good as we've been / it's the dirtiest clean I know" -- this means they are fighting again, but unfortunately, it is all too normal but it is very wrong. It is the "dirtiest clean" -- a bad thing that seems fine because it is normal. And it is so frequent, it's all she knows.
The moon is the man she’s currently with.
He can’t make up his mind what he wants. He’s moody, changeable in how he feels about their relationship, he can’t decide what he wants.
She still loves him. He’s still a “loveable lamb” to her. She’s also used to him and comfortable in the relationship even though it’s not working out. He’s so moody it’s become boring, she can predict his mood swings like you can predict the phase of the moon.
She’s accepted that he’s not going to change. Staying in is easier than leaving; “it’s the dirtiest clean I know” to stick around for the convenience of a relationship when you know it’s not working out.
She is trying to convince herself to leave, on a high note, nowhere to go but on. She knows it’s over. Her heart is breaking, she still loves him, she doesn’t want to go through the inevitable heartache - there’s nowhere to go - she knows she will be devastated and lonely when it’s over. Her moon’s white face - he’s in a good mood / loves her again. She wonders how long it will last, she knows it won’t.
She either meets someone new and interesting, or starts noticing other men. She’s wearing her heart on her sleeve. She’s still fragile, afraid to start something new, she either still hasn’t completely decided to leave her “moon” man or she’s just left him. The song’s out of key again.
So she’s telling this new man that she’s still fragile, asking this new man that she’s interested in (or hopes to meet) to go slow, take it easy, to bring some joy and happiness back into her life (shed some light on me please), to be consistent in his emotions and not evasive.
She’s still stuck on her current situation. She hasn’t made up her mind yet (keeps repeating my moon my man)
my .02!
hey, i'd love to be in Parliament. There's some funk you could shake your moon to.
But yeah, I'm fully convinced this is not about anal sex. I can see how it's dirty, but not how someone might consider it a "dirtiest clean." Sex is never clean, particularly when it involves lots of sweat, spit, lube, and the ol' pooper.
couple of other lines that preclude anal sex:
- "heart on my sleeve"
- "Shed some light on me please"
- "The song's out of key again"
- "so changable and/ such a lovable lamb to me"
What these lines tell is of a primarily emotional content. I tend to think this song is about a meaningful but sometimes difficult relationship. The dirty clean to me seems to be a stable relationship bought by a somewhat uncomfortable level of compromise. They're both deeply invested, so she needs him to take it slow and easy.
