Let it die and get out of my mind
We don't see eye to eye
Or hear ear to ear

Don't you wish that we could forget that kiss?
And see this for what it is
That we're not in love

The saddest part of a broken heart
Isn't the ending so much as the start

It was hard to tell just how I felt
To not recognize myself
I started to fade away, away, away

And after all it won't take long to fall in love
Now I know what I don't want
I learned that with you

The saddest part of a broken heart
Isn't the ending so much as the start
The tragedy starts from the very first spark
Losing your mind for the sake of your heart

The saddest part of a broken heart
Isn't the ending so much as the start

"Let it die and get out of my mind" "Losing your mind for the sake of your heart" Brilliantly said. I too would rather lose my mind than heart. Unfortunately, once you start losing your mind, eventually you'll lose your heart. When the troubles start, it slowly declines than it eventually picks up speed and ends. After a heartbreak you begin to just not want to do anything, wake up only to continually hit the snooze button. The night finally catches up with the day and you sit in your room listening to the same songs about heartbreak. You watch the moon slowly move it's way across your window, realizing how much time has gone by. Everything reminds you of the other person. Everything around you just seems to be about love, you turn on the television there's a show about love, turn on the radio there's a song about heartbreak. Walking around almost seems effortless, your legs are moving but all you can focus on is that person, you can feel how empty your eyes are. Eventually you find yourself in a rut and realize that you can't continue on this way. Finally you find out that it wasn't what you thought it was and you learn from that. It's a heart-wrenching process but as long as you make your way out of it, it's a beautiful result.

it's like that feeling of "oh fuck, we shouldn't be together. we can't, we can't, we have to forget that kiss and everything we love about each other" the lyrics are so, so beautiful and telling.

wow.. this song was recommended to me and all I can say is 'wow' "The tragedy starts from the very first spark" how true is that.. despite it feeling brilliant.. investing your heart. .. means you have alot to lose.. when [inevitably] it sours... this song had me sitting numb at my laptop.

@[Kahiara:35260] Actually I think the husband passed away, "She sang for you last night She heard you were calling" Many people say they have felt, heard, or seen their loved ones after they have passed. "Don't be scared now Close your eyes She holds guard tonight Go on forward no remorse Life will take it's course" This is said to the late husband by a third part (never named), who encourages him to pass on. Because life will eventually continue. The phrase "holds guard" refers to the ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_(ceremony) ) which is a Christian ceremony held after someone dies. Now it is usually held right after the funeral, but in most celtiic countries the wake is held before the funeral. "She danced with you last night so you will remember All you have shared, a lifetime." This sentence feels as if the only thing it wants to convey is their history together, namely, husband and wife. For the rest it just refers back to the first verse.

Matt Shadows their lead singer says the song was written as per request from the developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Watching the initial trailers for the game & looking at production sketches reminded him of the 'S-Town' podcast & its main protagonist, John B. McLemore. Matt also comments specifically on the lyrics: "I decided that the lyrics would shadow McLemore's life." In 2012, antiquarian horologist John B. McLemore sent an email to the staff of the show 'This American Life' asking them to investigate an alleged murder in his hometown of Woodstock, Alabama, a place McLemore claimed to despise. After a year of exchanging emails & several months of conversation with McLemore, producer Brian Reed traveled to Woodstock to investigate. Reed investigated the crime & eventually found that no such murder took place, though he struck up a friendship with the depressed but colorful character of McLemore. He recorded conversations with McLemore & other people in Woodstock. McLemore killed himself by drinking potassium cyanide on June 22, 2015 while the podcast was still in production. In the narrative of the podcast, this occurs at the end of the second episode; subsequent episodes deal with the fallout from McLemore's death while exploring more of McLemore's life & character.
