(no comments? what a shame...) I believe that this song is about someone who lost their family and became suicidal. its funny how they can make such a sad song have a completely awesome and upbeat melody. I ADORE this song. Kyo sings it so fast, tho; i can't keep up! lol Kyo iz awesome dat way ^_^

I think this song is about someone who got really hurt by somebody who doesn't care aubout what he've done! Now he's counting the days since this happened, slowly loosing any feelings at all. But at the third friday he notices to feel something like prefering the rain and suddenly his feelings come back. He notices to "hoven't thrown away to be human". But he still wishes to see the other one notices what he've done and noticing that it is really important to care about special things. He just want to see the other one doing some human things.

I don't see it as if he's lost anyone. I see this song as someone being isolated from society because he's not quite as 'proper' as other people.. "The social face, the private face." I think that is a reference to how Japanese people change their behaviors so often to stay formal or professional. You never know what they're really thinking. Then comes Kyo being the other person who chooses to show all his sadness/pain/sorrow or any other emotion without hiding them. Over time, people just tend to ignore him until the occasional sometime that he gets acknowledged as human.

Just my little interpretation due to some experience with this.

I think it is about someone who is constantly being judged by people, and was in a relationship with someone who was a total hypocrite, and constantly judged him for being different. I think he refers to being judged as being "Scammed", because the ex-lover was trying to take away the parts of himself that made himself interesting, and he doesn't even know it.

I think the "I'm hurting myself and I don't even know it" line is about...umm...He's hurting himself by thrusting himself from his normal life (As referred too in one of those lines), because he is leaving himself open to be judged.

Then, the topic switches to the ex-lover/whatever and he is trying to get the guy who makes fake faces around people to show his emotions around people.

That's only my guess. Excuse myself for not being clear; it's 2 o clock in the morning.

I actually think this song is about an almost typical behavior accepted/expected in Japan amongst its own people--the line that brought this to my attention was the whole "The social face, the private face, it's nice to see you use it both so nicely" line. There's a "public persona" that you adopt when dealing with people around you, obviously in public, in a place of work, neighbors, etc., and then there's the you, the real you--the private face. I seem to remember this being a cause of such strife and distress amongst the younger generation in particular, because of being so two-faced and it just leads you to feel so... split, I guess.

Obviously we know Kyo's stance on this as the line continues to say: "Well, thank you I haven't thrown away being human... No more whitewashing."

White-washing can be read as "sugar-coating" (though I'm NOT saying that's the translation!), in that you don't paint something up to be more 'pleasing.' Show your face and yourself for who and what you are.

I think that the whole social face, private face thing isn't just Japan, but everywhere.

This song has the most kickass riff in any song I'Ve ever heard.

But I guess a way to help out the two-faced thing is that, notice how upbeat the song is? Notice what the lyrics mean? How they're kind of different? He's not signing about an upbeat subject.
