I'm Taking You With Me Lyrics
I made a habit of never making promises that aren't easy to keep
There you have it, but now I'm making one that is
To keep you here with me
'Cause every second that goes by, I feel is just a waste of time if I'm not with you
If home is where the heart is, then my home is where you are
But it's getting oh-so hard to spend these days without my heart
So I'm taking you with me
Anywhere that I could ever want to be
For the rest of my life
I want you there with me
And if there ever comes a time
When I should have to leave
I hope you know that I,
I'm taking you with me
So I'm trying to hold it all together and make it through the day
When I'm just dying to drop it all and take your hand
So we could run away
From all the miles and the hours that seem to endlessly devour the time that I could be with you
If home is where the heart is, then my home is where you are
But it's getting oh-so hard to spend these days without my heart
So I'm taking you with me
Anywhere that I could ever want to be
For the rest of my life
I want you there with me
And if there ever comes a time
When I should have to leave
I hope you know that I,
I'm taking you with me
Every second that goes by is one more second of my life
And it couldn't be more clear, I'm literally dying without you here
Every second that goes by is one more second of my life
And it couldn't be more clear, I'm dying without you here
Yeah, every second that goes by
Yeah, every second that goes by
So I'm taking you with me
Anywhere that I could ever want to be
For the rest of my life
I want you there with me
And if there ever comes a time
When I should have to leave
I hope you know that I,

Matt sings about a girl. Plain and simple. Quite a good song, I'd be wooed.
If home is where the heart is, then my home is where you are But it's getting oh-so hard to spend these days without my heart
catchiest line on the album in my opinion
After so many recent songs of saying "I Suck at relationships" Matty is finally in love. aww.
I'm not so sure that this is about a girl. Doesn't, "I'm taking you with me" seem a little bit off to say to a girl.
A lot of people get mad when they hear this, but I think this song may be about God. "If home is wehre the heart is, then my home is where you are." That could just as easily be about Christ as about a girl.
The line "I'm literally dying without you here" cinches it too. Songs are up for interpreation, and RK does write songs about girls, I'm just not sure that this one is about a girl.
i can see where this is coming from.

"if home is where the heart is, then my home is where you are" home could totally be heaven.

and you can take God with you everywhere. so...yeah. i definitely agree that this could be about God.

@matthiasnotjudas this song can’t be about God due to when he says

You cant get closer to God in miles. He is talking about someone that he can physically get closer to. So he has to be talking about a girl here.

Hmm... I think this song is just great! It is so controversial and you can look at it one way to make it seem like it is about a girl and you can look at it another way to make it seem like it is about God. Also, I think this song is very catchy :D
Meh. I just say take it how you want.
I can easily see how you could take it as being about a girl.
Only part that has me thinking otherwise is 'I'm literally dying here without you' seems weird...
I think he says that he's dying because his heart(which can represent either the girl or God) is not there with him and we all know that you need your heart to live. That's why he's "literally" dying.. in a non-literal kinda of way
Uh.. yeah :p
Awesome song nevertheless!
I do agree with both points, though I'm leaning towards the girl side. Couldn't he be singing about leaving her because he had to move off to a different college or something? So he'd like to take her with him so they don't need to feel/be so apart.
I don't know if any of you have feel this way, but I know there are people in my life who I'd feel like dying for if they disappeared. Anyway, whatever it's referring to, the song is great.
This is another great song, yes it could be about God like most of there songs it depends how you want to look at it, but i think of my girlfreind and how im planning my whole life with her and how its hard when were not together and how no matter where or what i wanna go or do in life i know its easy to promise she will be there shes my future wife and just like this song im taking her with me
I think what he means by "I'm literally dying without you here" is that "every second that goes by" is "one more second off his life" - in other words, every second he is one second closer to the death, which is inevitable, so he wants to spend as much time with the girl (I'm taking this song to be about a girl because G-d is everywhere, so the "miles and the hours" couldn't really separate anyone from Him) as he possibly can.
