I do agree with both points, though I'm leaning towards the girl side. Couldn't he be singing about leaving her because he had to move off to a different college or something? So he'd like to take her with him so they don't need to feel/be so apart.
I don't know if any of you have feel this way, but I know there are people in my life who I'd feel like dying for if they disappeared. Anyway,
