Desperate Times Lyrics
Time and time again I stand at the crossroad.
Where the weight of my burden eclipses my resolve.
This broken path I've chosen, I walk it alone.
Though I feel forgotten, you've carved my name in stone.
In these desperate times.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
This is daily crucifixion and these rusty nails leave scars.
My jagged crown is at my side.
Anguish is never far.
In these desperate times.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
This is a blood-oath.
They are nothing to me anymore.
But your voice means more to me than you'll ever know.
There's no question, you're the answer.
I will find you.
In these desperate times.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
In these desperate times.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
Where the weight of my burden eclipses my resolve.
This broken path I've chosen, I walk it alone.
Though I feel forgotten, you've carved my name in stone.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
My jagged crown is at my side.
Anguish is never far.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
They are nothing to me anymore.
But your voice means more to me than you'll ever know.
I will find you.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.
This I plead.
When all else fails remember me.

This is some information that I have put together to support that the song is about Jesus and Christianity.
*Time and time again I stand at the crossroad. Where the weight of my burden eclipses my resolve. This broken path I've chosen, I walk it alone. Though I feel forgotten, you've carved my name in stone.
This is referring to Jesus doubt about his destiny and how he is walking a path know one else is walking the path of no sin and sacrifice which can be read in Mark 14: 35-36,Matthew 26: 36-40,Luke 22: 39-46 In these verse Jesus basically tells and pleads to God that he can not carry the burden and he does not want to follow his destiny.
*This is daily crucifixion and these rusty nails leave scars. My jagged crown is at my side. Anguish is never far.
This is very easy to interpret its talking about Jesus Crucifixion in which he died for the world's sins the Romans put a crown of thrones on his head and nailed nails into his hand on the cross.Mark (15:17), and John (19:2, 5.It also refers to the fact that even when Jesus rose up from the dead he still had the scars from the nails. Its also important to note that some Christians believe that Jesus suffers again every time we sin hence the daily crucifixion.
*This is a blood-oath. They are nothing to me anymore. But your voice means more to me than you'll ever know. There's no question, you're the answer. I will find you.
This can mean a number of thing it could mean someone accepting God though an oath and promising to never go back to there old ways. It could also be interpreted to when Jesus comes to terms that he most die after the prayer in Mark 14: 35-36,Matthew 26: 36-40,Luke 22: 39-46 and he then takes his apostles and takes part in the passover in which he tell them to drink wine as a symbol of his blood in a oath to The Son of God.
*In these desperate times. This I plead. When all else fails remember me.
Jesus telling his believers to never give up on him and never give up hope.
It could be that I am wrong and this song is nothing more but a love song but I think its to big of a coincidence to not be about Jesus. If anyone knows for sure the meaning of the song please leave me a message.
A good damn song, how come no one's posted on it! Basically it strikes me as a retelling of the crufixition of christ, there's more to it for sure.
I highly doubt thats what it means. Its probably just describing a very desperate time in life as the title says.
Maybe its how one person is coping through desperate times they are having and they are looking for the answer through God. Also that the only thing the person needs anymore to get through the desperate times is their faith and God.
^.^ I forget that this website doesn't have Italic codes.
No , I doubt it's about a soldier.
More than likely it's about a man(Howard Jones) struggle with everyday temptations and the wrong decision he makes, but he has faith that God will save him. He is wanted the right thing to happen but in these times it's so hard for him, but he still has faith. The line "There's no question, You're the answer, I will find you." I think is God either speaking to him saying he has a reason, or Howard saying he believes he will live a better civil life for God , for himself as well.
"In these desperate times , this is plead. When all else fails , remember me." Basicilly he's saying God to remember him and that he has lived for him, and when his death or the raptue, for God to remember him.
It's not secret that Howard Jones is a Christian and has faith.
cheers.

not very many posts on this song! love it.
Str463 - You're right. The entire song is Howard relating the desperate times of his life to the pain and anguish that Jesus went through in his crucifixtion. It cracks me up how people cannot see this relationship even when this song has blatant clues...(crown of thorns, rusty nails, CRUCIFIXTION?) This song is awesome though becuase you can almost feel how much Howard is pleading for God to remember him when his time comes, that he tried his hardest to stand true and strong throughout his daily trials.
I agree. I think that the chorus is God speaking to him...

It sounds like he is just talking about how when you at your lowest point and you feel like there is no point in continuing with anything, at all, look to Jesus for help.
The song always strikes me like he's talking about a man that is on the edge, and when he finally gets to his breaking point, where he would kill himself he has an epiphany.
