My Curse Lyrics

I watch you walk away
From this with nothing to say
I strain my eyes
Hoping to see you again

This is my curse
The longing
This is my curse
Time
This is my curse
The yearning
This is my curse

There is love
Burning to find you
Will you wait for me?
Will you desire?

Your silence haunts me
But still I hunger for you

This is my curse
The wanting
This is my curse
Time
This is my curse
The needing
This is my curse

There is love
Burning to find you
Will you wait for me?

Still I want
Still I ache
But still I wait

To see you again
Dying inside
These walls
Dying inside
These walls

And I see your face
In these tears
In these tears
And I see your face

There is love
There is love
There is love
There is love
There is love
There is love
There is love
There is love

This song describes someones struggles with unrequited love or in the teen sense 'crushes'.

It is a complete curse to have feelings towards someone who doesn't care or maybe doesn't even know. Not knowing where you stand with someone and feeling helpless/feelings of confusion.

- 'Your silence haunts me But still I hunger for you'

The person that the author has strong feelings for doesn't care/ appear bothered but still, the curse of attraction towards the person does not disappear. It will remain.

The first few lines are similar again:

'I watch you walk away Helpless with nothing to say I strain my eyes Hoping to see you again'

This is just a personal interpretation!

My Interpretation

I think it is about a guy who let a girl go, despite what she meant to him. he secretly still has feelings for this girl. maybe he is dying inside the walls that he has put up as a barrier of protection. maybe he wants her to know how he feels.

I don't think Howard is necessarily singing about a girl. He could be singing to God in some instances.."I strain my eyes hoping to see you again!" It's a great song and the guitars in it are amazing.

i know what ya mean man .... when i heard this and alot of other songs like when darkness falls ...it seems to me hes waiting for the everlasting peace

This song gets me.

grungergirl has got it: "...its about a guy who like (or loves) this girl. and she (likes or loves) him to but she feels hopeless for him( he has issues) ... hes waiting on her just as shes waiting for him..."

But "issues" refers to his uber shyness towards her in my depiction.

in my honest opinion..its obvious what this songs about. To me.. its about a guy who like (or loves) this girl. and she (likes or loves) him to but she feels hopeless for him( he has issues) and " will you be there?" will you wait for me?. obvously hes waiting on her just as shes waiting for him . i love this song

I think this song is a combination of the God theory and the love theory. It's about someone, who is in love, but is just to scared, or shy to do anything. When the guy goes up to the girl, he freezes, an can't say anything, and always blows it. He never gets a girl, and is always lonely. He then turns to god for help, so he could see a light to get over this fear of being lonely for the rest of his life.

Quote from Wikipedia. Refers to the Music video as well as lyrics.

"Much like the previous Killswitch Engage song, Rose of Sharyn from The End of Heartache album, My Curse pertains to the theme of dwelling on a passed loved one. The woman in the white dress in the field represents the man in black's life with her when he felt happy and free. The dark study is an embodiment of his depression after her death (To see you again, dying inside / These walls, dying inside), and the books the man flips through throughout the video represent his memories of her. After her death, he dwells on her passing (I strain my eyes, hoping to see you again) and tries to find a way to be with her again (There is love burning to find you / Will you wait for me? / Will you be there?). Ultimately, his memories consume him; however, as his memories finally kill him, he is finally able to reunite with his love (And I see your face). The man's "curse" was his love and longing for the deceased woman (This is my curse, the longing / This is my curse, time / This is my curse, the yearning)."

The song seems to consistently switch between 3/4 time and 4/4 time... the intro is 3/4 time, about 30 seconds in a 4/4 time, the extro is 3/4 time - all of the clean parts of the song also seem to be 3/4 time while all of the more extreme parts are 4/4, in general. Interesting use of time signatures.

I know there's an "official interpretation", but one day I showed my friend this song. After she heard the lyrics, she asked "Is he in jail?" - and after thinking about it, it kinda makes sense. Someone waiting for his love while in prison...

My Interpretation

I think that this song is about someone who is madly in love with someone but is scared of drifting farther away if they fess up to the person that they love and the person is torn between which one to choose
