Well she was precious, like a flower
She grew wild, wild but innocent
A perfect prayer in a desperate hour
She was everything beautiful and different
Stupid boy, you can't fence that in
Stupid boy, it's like holdin' back the wind

She laid her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
She never even knew she had a choice
And that's what happens when the only voice she hears is telling her she can't
Stupid boy
Stupid boy, oh

So, what made you think you could take a life
And just push it, push it around
I guess to build yourself up so high
You had to take her and break her down, oh

Well, She laid her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
She never even knew she had a choice
And that's what happens when the only voice she hears is telling her she can't
You stupid boy

Oh, you always had to be right
But now you lost the only thing that ever made you feel alive, oh ho
Yeah, yeah

Well, she laid her heart and soul right in your hands, yeah
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans, yes you did
She never even knew she had a choice
And that's what happens when the only voice she hears is telling her she can't
You stupid boy

Oh, I'm the same old, same old stupid boy, mm
It took a while for her to figure out she could run
But when she did, she was long gone, long gone

Mmhm
Ah, she was gone
She's long gone
Mm, yes, she is
Yeah, oh

Oh, no ones ever going to love me like she loved me
And she loved and she loved me
God, please, just let her know
I'm sorry
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, baby
Yeah, I'm down on my knees
She's never coming back to me

This song should be a big time hit soon on country music radio I think. So I will be one of the first to explain what I think it means.

Basically the whole stupid boy is him talking to himself(the subject) about how stupid he was for letting this girl go. She 'let her heart and soul ride in your hands' means that she put a ton of effort into things and let him have every bit of her and trusted him with her heart...then he demolished every bit of what she had given.

He thought he could do whatever he wanted to her, tell her what to do, push her around and basically treat her like she was second string...then after awhile she got tired of it all and ran away from it all, she left him with her heart and dreams broken.

Basically he controlled her life, telling her what she could and couldnt do...now he realizes that shes gone and that she was truly in love with him and trusted him with everything she had and now shes gone and theres nothing he can do and knows he was wrong for what he did. stupid boy.

what a great song, musically, lyrically...it all comes together.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
