I will be waiting right here only to roam
When the bells chime like there is no tomorrow
(And you're gonna take me home)

Never gonna ever gonna belong to another, no
Never gonna ever gonna belong to another, no

Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet

My candle shines at night time through the dawn
But my darling you have fallen and don't belong
(And I can't carry on)

My candle shines without a doubt
But the wind in your wings blows them out
And for my arms it is too late
And your wings are gonna have to wait

Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet
Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet
Not an angel yet

Never gonna ever gonna belong to another, no

My candle shines without a doubt
But the wind in your wings blows them out
And for my arms it is too late
And your wings are gonna have to wait

Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet
(Not an angel yet)
Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet

Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet
(Not an angel yet)
Leave me alone, I am not an angel yet
Not an angel yet
Not an angel yet

I cant believe no one has comment on this song. It's fucking awesome. And the lyrics are wrong. It's suppose to be "I'll be waiting right here only to roam".Im not really sure what this song is about though.Maybe it's about suicide?Im just taking a wild guess...

whoever wrote these lyrics is dumb because they are so off. anyways, this song is about abuse. "I'll be waiting right here only to roam": i won't go anywhere even though i want to. "never gonna ever gonna belong to another" : no one is ever going to want you. "leave me alone i am not an angel yet" : even though im not perfect i dont deserve this kind of treatment. "my candle shines at night time through the dawn" : even though it feels like bad things hppen all the time i know there is still hope. "my candle shines without a doubt but the wind in your wings blows them out" : i still have my hopes even though you crush them. so, there's the song meaning for ya

omg I absolutely love this song

but shouldn't it "but the wind in your wings blows them out?"

it sounds more like that and it makes a lot more sense with the lyrics

This song is extra confusing. At first I had the idea that it was about love. The words at the beginning seem to signify that... but The more you listen the more confusing the song gets. Still a great song. ^^

I think that this song could possibly be about the man and his girl have been together..but now he's starting to wander off with other women. ""I'll be waiting right here only to roam"" because of this, he's become less than good for her. he feels that he's not good enough to be with her. "Leave me alone I am not an angel yet.." and now maybe she's wanting to get married to him, but he doesn't think it would be good. He thinks that he's done too much to salvage the relationship after he tells her, and so he's saying that she's just gonna have to wait to do this with someone else. "And your wings are gonna have to wait"

..idk i may be totally off but thats what i get out of it. greaaat song though, very catchy.

Well, when I hear this song, I think about religion. When I'm at church or with friends from my church youth group at a church service, I see all of them running to the front, participating and having a religious experience in God. Then, I look at myself and I feel terrible because I cannot do the same, for some reason, I am incapable of following them. I think that when it says, "Leave me alone, I'm not an angel yet.", the artist is trying to say, "Hey, give me a break. I'm not ready yet, and I cannot fly like you can." It can be compared to a late-bloomer bird who is not yet ready to fly, but is being hassled by his brothers. The artist is trying to say, stop spreading your wings and showing off, because at the same time, you are putting out my candle flame, which is my only chance to shine. Give me the break I need to fly like you. At least, that's my take on the song, so it's encouraging and I use it to hold my emotions around my church friends. Hope this provides insight. --Dylan

I will be waiting right here Only to roam- he'll wait for nothing, and end up wondering for something else.

When the bells chime like there is no tomorrow (and you're gonna take me home)- when a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity comes knocking

Leave me alone I am not an angel yet- he is saying that he isnt perfect, and hasnt got everything right so she needs to give him a break

My candle shines at night time through the dawn- his love for her lasts long

But my darling you have fallen and don't belong (and I can't carry on)- she has either died, or left him or gone somewhere and without her he cant live

My candle shines without a doubt- his love for her is serious and real, without a doubt.

But the wind in your wings blows them out- her obnoxiousness causes him to feel differently

And for my arms it is too late- too late to reach out

And your wings are gonna have to wait- shes gonna have to wait for him this time

Leave me alone I am not an angel yet Leave me alone I am not an angel yet Not an angel yet- same as above ^^

When he says "I will be waiting here, only to roam" I think he means he's trying to find someone else, and get over his pain. This is because when he says "Never going to belong to another" he's saying something happened between the lines of break up and this girl's death. So when he says "Leave me alone, I'm not an angel yet" it hints that he must've done something wrong to harm this girl to make her break up, or (worst case scenario) die.

When he says "My candle shines without a doubt" he's saying that he still loves her. And when he says "But the wind in your wings blows them out" he's saying that the fact that she's dead makes him sad. "And your wings are gonna have to wait" means that she's supposedly in heaven, but he's telling her to wait for him there.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
