Annie Christian wanted to be number one
But her kingdom never comes, thy will be done
She couldn't stand the glory, she would be second to none
The way Annie tells the story, she's his only son
Annie Christian wanted to be a big star
So she moved to Atlanta and she bought a blue car
She killed black children, and what's fair is fair
If you try and say you're crazy, everybody say, "electric chair"
Electric chair

Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified, I'll live my life in taxicabs
Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified, I'll live my life in taxicabs

Annie Christian was a whore, always looking for some fun
Being good was such a bore, so she bought a gun
She killed John Lennon, shot him down cold
She tried to kill Reagan, everybody say gun control
Gun control

Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified I'll live my life in taxicabs
Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified I'll live my life in taxicabs

Liar, liar, liar
Got ya in a jam
Put your head on the block, somebody say, "Abscam"
Abscam

Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified, I'll live my life in taxicabs
Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified, I'll live my life in taxicabs

    My Interpretation

annie christian = any christian but its not necesarily about christians its about extremists The first verse depicts how someone can become like that : missed chance to be a leader. The song couples some usa media attention about crimes in the usa in 1980's, assasanation attempt on reagan , murder of john lennon an an event in atlanta that i dunno bout. The lyrics try to find a common ground and that is expressed in the title ( any christian can become an extremist, in usa surely ) Prince the artist will spend his life in taxicabs for being afraid wind up like the next killed celeb. ..miauw

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
