Monsters Invisible Lyrics

it’s hard to believe
i cannot exist without you
as hard as i’ve tried
i cannot confess completely
these words will lament you
and do sorts of likewise behavior
it’s just part of the curse
i’m just trying to stay alive

are you out there
are you listening at all
are you out there
are you listening
to anything i’ve said

it’s hard to admit
my weaknesses can consume me
i search for the cure
in the bottles of buried volumes
the joke of it is
i express myself without purpose
yet you devour my smallness
the madness to make believe

if i can pretend, i don’t depend
i can deny, deny, denial
yet when push comes to shove
and all the above
i decide to live the lie

maybe it's just the title hindering my judgment, but i really think this song is based on the book invisible monsters.

I don't think it is...I just finished reading it two days ago. Incredible book. Chuck palahnuik is God. It's time to dance by Panic! at the disco is about it though. I'm not a book person , but I'm in love with it. Go read it if you haven't already.

i know everyone is gonna think this is a " of course" or more frankly a " duh!" moment. but it seems to me that this song and most of his songs are about defeating most of his inner demons. like in modern chemistry, how he talks about the synapsis, which relate to extasy use and all the songs that talk about therapy, depression, his insceurities, his addictions, and his past relationships with women and his family. i think that in this last album he is finally trying to pick up the pieces. more so than the last. anyways this is an incredible song and i am glad it is fianlly released on the limited edition cd. and thank you guys for the invisible monsters thing. i gotta pick up that book.

yep, the title is a reference to the book. originally it was monstres invisibles, the title in french, but the spelling got screwed up on the import. or something like that...

btw: "these words were not meant to induce acts of likewise behavior"

I can see how some of the lines could possibly could relate to Palahnuik. But, I don't see that they are. Acctually, I think you people are completely wrong.

Yeah, I don't think it's based on the book. I think they just named it after the book because they liked it.

Maybe it's just me, but it sounds almost like a cautionary tale: "these words were not meant to induce acts of likewise behavior"

think the song is pretty obvious. I know people take things differently but this is the way I see it:

"It’s hard to believe I cannot exist without you As hard as I’ve tried I cannot confess completely These words will lament you And will induce acts of likewise behavior It’s just part of the curse I’m just trying to stay alive" There is someone in his life that he's lost (Girlfriend, lover, friend) and he can't get over it and he can't tell them how he feels about it. He's just trying to survive without telling them the truth but he wants them to hear this and feel the same way... The rest of it just is saying that he's pretending he doesn't have feelings or doesn't want them in his life and how he's dealing.

I'm sorry, I misread the lyrics.

And after reading the book "invisible monsters" the song makes alot more sense. However, I don't believe that the lyricist is writing and describing the book, but how he, himself, fits into the character's persona.

"it’s hard to believe i cannot exist without you as hard as i’ve tried i cannot confess completely these words will lament you and do sorts of likewise behavior it’s just part of the curse i’m just trying to stay alive"

It's kind of funny that the main character, Shannon, can only communicate herself through a pen and paper due to her jaw being blown off, maybe he feels writing is the only way to completely express how he feels.

"are you out there are you listening at all are you out there are you listening to anything i’ve said"

Summed up in the line from the book "Nobody gets noticed, not anymore"

"it’s hard to admit my weaknesses can consume me i search for the cure in the bottles of buried volumes the joke of it is i express myself without purpose yet you devour my smallness the madness to make believe"

In the book, Shannon & co steal perscription painkillers and such from upscale houses that are for sale, to differentiate between the medications she has a giant hand book in her possesion. I think he may see himself comparable with shannon because maybe he has/had a problem with some kind of substance.

"if i can pretend, i don’t depend i can deny, deny, denial yet when push comes to shove and all the above i decide to live the lie"

I think it means what it says here.
