Time For Tea Lyrics

Scouring through the wasteland
With an urge to take, anything that comes into view
Only ten more puffs to teatime
I've found eating so time consuming

Willie, oh Willie, she cried
It's time for tea
Willie, where in hell has he gone?
It's time for tea

South of the wasteland at your DIY
The inconsiderate rings his till
Offering plans of easy credit
Claims he'll cause a killing in the school half term

Willie, oh Willie, she cried
It's time for tea
Willie, where in hell have you gone?
It's time for tea

And welly well well well, what have I found here
A hiding place made by Frigidaire
I think I'll try it on and give my mates a scare
They'll all be searching neither here nor there

Willie, oh Willie, we cry
It's time for tea
Oh Willie, where in hell have you gone?
It's time for tea

Long depress of autumn breeze
Sucking on the rubber back teeth
Plays in the hand of the hardware man
Who selfishly "I don't care"

Cover art for Time For Tea lyrics by Madness

I just read here: http://www.realgonerocks.com/2010/08/madness-keep-moving/

"‘Time For Tea’ tells a tale of a glue-sniffing boy who dies on a rubbish tip, after hiding in a refrigerator."

I guess I can see that, but hats off to anyone who could work that out just from the lyrics.

@dancj Thank you for bringing that to light. I suspected there was something concerning that 'Frigidaire' lyric, but I've been listening to this album since 1984, and until now didn't know what the hell this was about!

Yet another reason why I love the Internet. I've been able to get some meaning out of songs from foreign bands like Madness and Midnight Oil. I've loved the music, but not always been able to make sense of the lyrics.
