My thoughts on this: This could be about people like creationists, which are so vehemently anti-science that they believe dinosaurs lived with humans 6000 years ago ("riding on your pterodactyl") "Now let's go dancing madly backwards" (being anti-science, not progressive) "Captain Beyond"=God? "Gravity is such a drag but we will have our way" (gravity being the most obvious and undeniable discovery of science, also staying arrogant and unaffected in your ridiculous claims and refusing to be brought "down to earth) Title "Rising Son"= Jesus?

It should be Captain Beyond in the first verse, a reference to the 70s band. So is the line "Now lets go dancing madly backwards While on a sea of air", which is actually one of their song names. Aside from that I cant see any connection, let alone a meaning to the song, but it is fun to listen to.
this is one of my favorite clutch songs, would like to know some more background to it but its extremely groovy to listen to nonetheless
