in a dream
in a place
where the far reaches of this mind
i have seen a true nightmare
with the kiss of lovers lips
what a friendly offer
just a memory
it still hurts
when i think that once
she was mine

because im lost for words
with one last breath
for me to take from you
now gasp for air
theres nothing left
for me to take from you

i guess its only right
to give someone what they need
even if its nothing they ever
wanted in the first place
ive seen with my own two eyes
the hurt and pain
that love causes
thats why i wont let you
go down that road
too emotional overdose

if i had her again
everything would be alright
but nothings alright
and nothings ok
when you live in a memory

im lost for words
with one last breath
for me to take from you
now gasp for air
theres nothing left
for me to take from you

just a breakdown of the heart
im lost for words that wont mean a thing
a tragic ending
a farewell to
a friendship that meant
nothing at all
you let her in
you let her win
is there anything else
to break or mend a bond as strong as ours
that wallow all through love
all through life

im lost for words
with one last breath
for me to take from you
now gasp for air
theres nothing left
for me to take from you

    Song Meaning

It is my understanding that the lyrics : what a friendly offer just a memory) are wrong. the original text was (One a friend the other just a memory) which changes the meaning to say that he stopped dating a girl and then his best friend or friend started dating her ouch

This is an awesome song! I think it is about a previous relationship this guy had. He was most likely best friends with one girl and the started dating. Things went horribly wrong with their relationship. After it ends, she wants him back but he doesnt want to get hurt again. Thats what i gathered from this song.

I can't believe there is only one comment on this song!!! ....To me it is about a guy who was friends with a girl & then they got together, then they broke up, & he feels like he has lost everything...Whenever i hear this song tho, I think of my old bestfriend, who has NOTHING to do with dating.. "just a breakdown of the heart, im lost for words that wont mean a thing..a tragic ending...a farewell to a friendship that meant nothing at all..you let her in you let her win..is there anything else to break or mend?"

    so powerful.

a change of pace is such an amazing band and they deserve to be so much more popular and listened to than they are at the moment...i can see them going veeeery far and growing an extreme fanbase..

i listened to this song this afternoon right after talking to a guy i decided i didnt want to be friends with anymore because we had a pointless relationship...then all of a sudden i hear "a tragic ending, a farewell to a friendship that meant nothing at all" and then i realized that our friendship hadnt meant anything and it felt really good to kind of have that justified

I absolutely love this song! The exact same thing happened to me. My best friend and I became serious but then something happened and we broke off, she wants to get back together but i'm scared and I don't want to be hurt again. This song is one of the most amazing songs i've ever heard, I'm sad that not a lot of people have heard or listen to A Change of Pace

I understand this song can relate strongly to dating a good or even a best friend and it turning out for the worse, however I relate to this song in a different way with some of the lyrics.

"I've seen with my own to eyes the hurt and pain That love causes that's why I won't let you go Down that road to emotional overdose" I relate to this, as a good friend split with her ex after a long term relationship. He treated her so poorly and all of her friends said she deserved better, yet she remained to stay with him because she loved him. Then she wants to get back together. We try and explain she could try and move on, because we've seen what he does to her, and its because she loves him that she cant move on.

"You let her in, You let her win Is there anything else To break or bend a bond as strong as ours Now hollow all throughout" After she let her ex get back in her life, he started saying how she cant be friends with us. It put so much tension in the friendship, and in the end, what was such a strong bond with us broke.

Thats just how I relate to the song though. =)

i think the meaning of this song is quite obvious....it's about dating your best friend, falling in love with him/her, and then breaking up and losing the great friendship you had.

this song really hits home for me...i had a great friendship with this girl who i met my freshman year of college. i eventually fell in love with her, and she had fallen for me as well (or so she said)..we started dating and things were so great. i was more happy than i had ever been before..until i found out that she had been playing me and seeing at least one other guy behind my back...i was crushed, and in the end our friendship was ruined..

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
