This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
There's a hatchet got a knife
When I awoke there was nothing real in this life
But dreams are so intoxicating, (intoxicating)
When you're doing this alone
Gun, rope, brick on the way
But words have no meaning when its you that says
I really do care, no baby I, I really do care!
Innocence gone, never take friendship personal
If you can't hold yourself together
Why should I hold you now?
In a sense gone, never take friendship personal
If you can't hold yourself together
Why should I hold you now?
Once a skeptic, now the critic
And you think that you finally found a place of your own.
Amongst the cold and timid souls
Where only failure knows your name
Look around for the closest to blame
But look no further than the hands beneath your arms
and now your 6 feet down, buried with, with your passing fame
And fame fame fame fame.
Innocence gone, never take friendship personal
If you can't hold yourself together
Why should I hold you now?
In a sense gone, never take friendship personal
If you can't hold yourself together
Why should I hold you now?
Oh oh oh you lie
Tell me something more than what you've tried to hide
If you can't find your self, then how can I expect to find you.
Oh oh oh you cry
Tell me something more than what you tried
The greatest tragedy is not your death
But a life without reason, that your life had no purpose
(Life has no purpose!)
Innocence gone, never take friendship personal
If you can't hold yourself together
Why should I hold you now?
In a sense gone, never take friendship personal
If you can't hold yourself together
Why should I hold you now?
Innocence gone, never take friendship personal

what a great song to open the album with. starts with almost a scream. i had been anticipating this album for awhile and it is quite good.
Good song.
It's about being betrayed.
Good song.
It's about being betrayed, by someone he realizes after he loses respect for him or her but the person had also lost respect for themselves (If you can't hold yourself together/Why should I hold you now?).
Great way to start the album. Great advice. Friends deceive.
These lyrics aren't 100% accurate either. But I'm too lazy to post what needs to be fixed. They're close enough
The song is about one of their former band members who thought the band would get him a bunch of things that they weren't into, so they had to let him go.
edit: "thought the band" should be "thought that being in the band"
amazing song.. yes writen to the band members they let go.. which is why he wrote "you told me to write a song about it, so here's your song" at the beggining of the lyrics.. he gives you the reason right there.
\"never take friendship personal\"
damn. good line- this song rocks
Knate (the drummer) said it is about a former band member, Joey, who was in the band for sex, love, drugs, and fame. The band is a christan band, so they had to kick him out. When he was kick out, Joey said to "make a song about it". So they did. And if you have the cd, in the pamflet in the front before the lyrics it says, "(You told me to "write a song about it" so here's your song...)" Seems pretty awesome to me. This song is just anmazing!
Love this song...it's the truth, if some1 cant hold themselves together, why hold them down??love this love this love this!
