Bleeding to Death Lyrics
deceived of all your dreams
betrayed by all your leaders
this shall no place to be
this, a dead-end future
take a walk through grey, concrete deserts
apathetic faces, emoty eyes - the only thing you will see
a whole country bleeding to death
one big illusion - bleeding to death
no young hands to build it up
cities fall to ruin
just old men left to mourn
four decades of a life denied
abused good will to exploit us
brothers turned to victory
fooled by ancient propaganda
a bottle - your illusion
your home just like a colony
betrayed by all your leaders
this shall no place to be
this, a dead-end future
apathetic faces, emoty eyes - the only thing you will see
a whole country bleeding to death
one big illusion - bleeding to death
cities fall to ruin
just old men left to mourn
four decades of a life denied
abused good will to exploit us
brothers turned to victory
fooled by ancient propaganda
a bottle - your illusion
your home just like a colony

These lyrics have to be about that other German country... the one HSB come from? The German Democratic Republic. It's about how the so-called "unification" of the two German countries happened after 1989... and about what has become of East German culture and everything... about how it's just been completely demolished by West Germany, by capitalism and greed. "four decades of a life denied" -> this is about the strange tendency in nowadays Germany to neglect there has ever been another German country with its own political system. It's like telling the East Germans that all their past life and their efforts had no meaning at all. No wonder many of them feel like: "your home just like a colony".
Definitely not your everyday HC lyric...!
I think it's about governments and I guess you summed it up.
I wouldn't say it's only a critic against western germany. The "grey, concrete desserts" surely is a symbol for east germany and you're right that they're talking about the differences within germany. "no young hands to build it up, cities fall to ruin" These lines describe the current situation. lots of young people move to west germany because of better job opportunities. I don't see a critic against capitalism here, but against the "ancient propaganda" of which the people in east germany suffered before the reunion
I understand the whole 2 germany thing. BUt what does he mean by "Bleeding to death"? is it the slow demise of the country or something?
it is about area of East Germany - more old people, less jobs, falling of industry, escape of young people to western world, alcoholism etc. = regress
