its not about that at all. its about how your life is not your own, it belongs to God. "this is not my life.....every day i die" this refers to the fact that the old self must die to live for Christ

i dont think it is really about that, sense somewere in the end part where he says "this is not my life, this is not our life" I THINK i hear him say "this is not alright" wjhich i dont think our life belonging god would be a bad thing. i am not sure what this song means my self

I think it could be that he's saying that he never meant to break his wifes heart, and at the end hes saying that life is not his own, neither his wife's.

I agree solely with burning_ice cause I don't think it sounds like it's talking about a wife or a girlfriend... I think when he's saying "I never meant to break your heart" and "I hate myself for hurting you" that he is referring to apologizing to god because he is not living his life in christ... or something like that...

refers to Christ's crucifiction, and how he feels guilty that Christ had to die for his sins

but the first time i heard this song i thought it was for a girlfriend since i didn't know Demon Hunter was a Christian band

I think it's about falling into sin and hurting God and then feeling guilty about it. I also think that it's called "Summer of Darkness" because, for me, I'm more likely to fall into sin during the summer, when I don't have school to worry about and take up my time.
