Less Than Nothing Lyrics

I suffocate.
Reality is tearing my life away.
All in vain.
I'm taking my pride into the grave.

What a fine line we walk with our eyes closed.
Giving our worst as first like we don't know.
Burning my way through life with a vengeance
Giving my weight in hate until the neck bends
Tearing out every trace of emotion
Falling into this cell that you've opened
Hollow as all these faces around me
Feeling your fatal infection surround me.

CHORUS:
We all live in fear of something.
We all disappear like nothing.
We all live in fear of something.
We all equal less than nothing.

I suffocate.
I'm taking my life from first to last.
All this hate is dragging my face through broken glass.

How can we be so blind in the same light?
Covering all these scars that we can't hide.
Feeling my way through thorns of rejection.
Bleeding out all this filth of infection.

(CHORUS)

Nothing.
Nothing.
We're nothing.
Nothing.

"we all live in fear of something, we all disapear like nothing, we all live in fear of something, we all equal less than nothing" this illustrates that without Jesus we are nothing and we will all live in fear without Him

I agree ^-^ and the first verse illustraits us before Christ i suppose.... cause the part 'fatal infection' i suppose that wouldnt suggest Jesus Christ, ne? Well i think the second verse is when we meet Jesus 'Bleeding out all this filth of infection' thats him cleansing us but it usually isnt easy, thus 'bleeding' that is just my opinion though ^-^

The only reason we can be a blessing to God is by his grace. We, by our sinful, human nature fall so short of his glory that it’s only by the miracle of grace that we are so precious in his sight. The Bible tells us that in and of ourselves and without God, we are no one, nothing. No matter the person, without God’s grace, we are collectively worthless. We attempt to do things with our own power fail and time and again. This song speaks about the stubborn human nature and the reality of our worth apart from God.~~~Kudos to Ryan at the Demon Hunter forums!

This is just about my favorite D.H. song. Not only musically but lyrically as well.

To me, this song is a reminder of how small and insignificant we really are. Compared with Almighty God's Sovreignty we're nothing. And we think we have the right to say and do what WE think is right.

To me, the song means that he can't take the pressure of life as it was, and that he's tired of being scared. He also seems to mean that we, as humans, tend to rush through life, not opening our eyes to what is around us. We only see life from the beginning, birth, and the end, death, we don't focus on the now. Just the past and future. And because of this it is meaningless and we are all "less than nothing".

All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. -Romans 3:12

I find that this song is about the nihilism and existential angst many face without believing in God (in this case, of course, a version of the Christian God). In a way I see it as a portrayal of how the writer sees life as it would be in the absence of their faith.
