Beheaded (feat. Mike Williams) Lyrics
In the never-ending circle where
The powerless meet
There grows a struggle from the burden
Of sustaining defeat
In the face of every coward lies the
Blindest of hate
And in the eyes a sharpened image of
The damage they made
You look at me to bear the burden of the suffering past
It wasn't me behind the veil
Of a heartless mask
And where were you the day that everybody
Cursed your name?
You were the distant voice of pride
That never stood the shame.
The weak of the mind will use fist
And the fist of the frail will bring gun
The loudest of guns provoke bombs
And in wrath he will chase until it's done.
CHORUS:
Your history is dead.
Dead wrong.
Dead - dead wrong.
Philosophy is dead.
Dead wrong.
Dead - dead wrong.
Within the mind of modern culture
There's an idle cog
It is the section of humanity that never forgot
And in the midst of moving forward we have given the right
To let the wolves attack the sheep and bury guilt inside
I won't forget the twisted picture of the filth that we were
Or disregard the fading voices of the people we hurt
But I was never pulling triggers or degrading your face.
Don't look at me to give the reason for the pain that you trace.
(CHORUS)
The scars outlive the pain.
Reflections will remain.
The scars outlive the pain.
Your sickness will remain.
Dead - dead wrong.
The powerless meet
There grows a struggle from the burden
Of sustaining defeat
In the face of every coward lies the
Blindest of hate
And in the eyes a sharpened image of
The damage they made
You look at me to bear the burden of the suffering past
It wasn't me behind the veil

This song pulls off many meanings to me, it seems to like he saying it from God point of view, that he telling us that our the truth of our history and our philosophy is all wrong, even in modern culture, there is something missing, its missing cause it doesn't exist. also the scars will always remain after pain, and remembering will remains. the reflections stays around...
I strongly beleive this song is about anger violence and most of all revenge, the pre chorus bit is where i first got this idea. its about how people endlessly seek revenge on each other and it just gets worse. an i think the chorus is saying that its all dead wrong, the philosophy of revenge doesnt work, and what people have done in the past is all dead wrong, it never got them anywhere. Awesome song.
bought_in_blood, you're right. Ryan says this song is about gang life, and how the mentality is all wrong. Let me just put what he said...
Beheaded addresses the issues of gang life and the meaninglessness of the retribution that keeps it alive. The song talks about the never-ending cycle of revenge that fuels the gangster mentality. In this day and age, with the growing popularity of gangster rap and gang-influenced attitude and behavior, the general public are beginning to embrace the idea of a thug mentality. This mentality suggests concern only for one’s self and a total disregard and disrespect for anyone else. Not only this, but a complete lack of accountability for their actions, instead blaming their lifestyle on the haunting mistakes and atrocities of the past. The history and philosophy behind this mentality is dead wrong.
"Beheaded" in my opinion, deals with societies asnswers to otherwise theological questions. Hence, Philosophy/History being "dead wrong" in accordance to God's wisdom. The secular/worlds mentality is to provoke us to sin and had thus even entered the church, "...have given the right to let the wolves attack the sheep and bury guilt inside." This song teaches us that we cannot depend on a dead (spiritually) worlds ideals for a life of satisfaction that can only be found in and through Jesus Christ.
its a freakin awesome song the singer form the agony scene is amazing
First of all, this song is awesome! from the sound to the lyrics! =]
I think the meaning of this song is that non believers philosophy is "dead wrong" and the history is "dead wrong" too. Which is obviously definintly true! =]
I have another interpretation of it although knocloo27 I agree that there talking about gang life, but what I first thought they were saying was how beliefs like humanism, feminism, evolution and stuff like that are dead wrong and that part could be interpreted that way if you really feel the need to play that song and pray for people that have there minds sickened by humanism
to me, this song is about how violence from gangs is killing society today. mike williams from the agony scene does awsome guest vocals for this song. like it isnt awsome already
listen to the chorus really close.... the singer from the agony scene is acctualy screaming "DEAD RIGHT!" and ryan clark is screaming "DEAD WRONG!" i think this song is about a spiritual warfare going on between Satan and God. Satan is trying to tell people that Gods word is wrong therefore "DEAD WRONG" and God is trying to tell the people that his word is true, therefore "DEAD RIGHT" and its talking about how society these days has taken alot of what scripture says and twist it around making it hard for people who are not aware of this even more absent minded on the subject of what God is trying to say through scripture
this song is directed right at satanists, satanic bands, satanic trends in metal, especially recent trends to try and use the crusades as a foot stool to degrade christians, devalue there beliefs in some way. especially in norway where there burning down churches and killing christians.

people now are wanting christians to answer for every atrocity committed in its name. what has produeced this trend is more than likely george bush for one thing. the second verse talks about how nobody cares what happens to christians. there is no sympathy for anybody anymore. we live in a violent non caring society. basically he is saying hey I dont care if you worship satan thats between you and God, but leave me out of it.
Just because DH is a christian band, doesn't automatically mean that all of they're songs are about christianity, jesus or god. Knocloo27 actually has the facts about the song. Ignoring facts and relating everything to god, is one of the most annoying things about christians. Fuck, I can't stand religion!
@satanaesinagoga While the main meaning of the song may not directly involve God, when you identify with him, he will always be involved in some way, even if it's a quiet undertone. The bible says that whatever we do, to do it for the Lord. Maybe just try to view it from multiple perspectives before slamming Christians as a group, which is also what we get flamed for. Have a great day
