Shekina Lyrics

Vattnet svart
Som månen full
varm nattbris viskar

Water black
As the moon is full
Warm nightbreeze whispers
I'm naked and new

I know you're always throwing kisses from the sky
Well, tonight I caught one
Sixteen years old
I dare to swim further out
I know you're always throwing kisses from the sky
Well, tonight I caught one

Som om man kunde
Vidröra lycka
Jag virar den runt mig
Som en filt

Like joy was something you could touch
I wrap it around me
Like a blanket
It's just you, me and the moon

I know you're always throwing kisses from the sky
Well, tonight I caught one
Sixteen years old
I dare to swim further out
I know you're always throwing kisses from the sky
Well, tonight I caught one

just want to say that I only saw incorrect swedish parts everywhere and decided to do my own version because I'm from sweden and because of that I know what he says/sings. Every verse in swedish is just translated into english in the next verse, for example: Vattnet svart = water black, som månen full = as the moon is full. except for the last line in every english verse (I'm naked and new) and(It's just you, me and the moon). He doesn't sing that in swedish. Hope you enjoyed the language course =).

Yea, i will propose a question, what does everyone think Shekina mean? Is it something in swedish moof? But, heres the two answers from a message board i got... but it was spelled Shekinah*

Basically, the Shekinah is God's glory manifested amongst men. It's basically used when one wants to talk about God acting in the world, but without making him sound human. For example, God dwelt in Solomon's temple. Now, obviously God was not physically present in a body in the temple and no one really wants to say that he was, but at the same time one has to explain how God can dwell somewhere. Hence the tradition is that it was the Shekinah, God's glory, that resided in the temple.

or

my friend was explaining to me that it was like for example gold dust falling from the sky or appearing on people, or angel's feathers... stuff like that

Does anyone else know why blindside named the song Shekina and what it is?

To me Shekina seems like a godess: "I know you're always throwing kisses from the sky Well, tonight I caught one" and "It's just you, me and the moon" They all say that Shekina is in the sky, and you wouldn't wanna catch a kiss from a guy if you were one, right?

Kiss doesn't necessarly mean a literal kiss, maybe it's more of a comfort, emotion or caring.

Shekina in Kabbalah is also God's female half. So yeah, basically, a Goddess. And it's said that her seperation from God was what created/made room for evil in the world.

Perhaps the song was written to someone he was seperated from; his own personal Goddess?

well basically shekina is short for the shekina glory of God since blindside is a christian band and goddesses aren't a part of christianity. the shekinah glory was the manifest presence of God on earth in the holy of holies in the tabernacle. the shekinah glory dwelt between the wings of the sculpeted angels on the lid of the ark of the covenant... "The etymology of the dwelling or presence of God is the Hebrew word Sh'cheenah or as we pronounce it Shekinah. The term Shekinah was many times used interchangeably with the word God. In the Jewish mind it always spoke of the fact that He "dwelt in" or "rested upon" those who merited His favor, whether an individual, a community, or the entire Jewish people" as described by most scholars
