She wakes up in the morning
In the same room that she's been in her whole life
And everything still looks the same
But the feeling of the room has changed in spite

She said
"You don't know what it's like to be stuck in my mind"
She said
"You don't know what it's like to be stuck in my mind all the time"

Bruised lips and the make-up
Tattooed hips and pierced
For the sake of letting everybody know
She don't belong here
Old tricks that she made up

Attitude
I don't give a fuck
For the sake of letting everybody know
She says I won't belong So long
It's not a lost cause
She's just a runaway

Is there nothing left for you to say?
And if she comes home
Do you think she'll want to stay?
Is there anything for her?
She's a runaway
Turn your back on yesterday
She calls at seven thirty

And wants to talk about her boyfriend one last time
Mom and Dad are fighting in the background,
Shattered glass cuts through red wine
I said,
"I don't know that I'm right but I know that you're wrong"

[Chorus]

Blacked out
Passed out at a party
In another town
With the same old Bacardi
Nothing ever changes what's inside me
Someone find me, someone find me
My heart showed me the way out

Don't stop
Don't give up on me now
Two beats, two streets
Too many repeats to blow my only other way out

[Chorus]

i think it's not so much she doesn't care as she whats someone to care about her like 'Someone find me, someone find me' makes me think she wants someone to be there and 'Don't stop Don't give up on me now' makes me think that she's thinking people are losing faith in her and moving away from here when she needs support... maybe? i dunno

i dont know but is the bacardi a link to the other song where a young girl gets raped. Like watch out what you do this than could happen to you? While the song just goes on without going that way.

To me this song means that there's a girl who is obviously undergoing a lot of pressure, and she's trying to survive the only way she knows how, and she's wreckless in doing so, and feels all alone at the same time, the singer is portraying himself as maybe a friend, boyfriend or person that knows of this person, and is basically saying she's just about ready to leave home because she can't stand it anymore, but I could be wrong ;)

I agree that she seems to be self-destructing. Not sure who singer is as he seems to be tellig her friends not to give up on her "It's not a lost cause..." and he can tell that she wants someone to be there for her.

I adore this song, am using many of it's lyrics for a piece of art form my exams.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
