They reach beside
they leech to find
i dreamed of this so long
this used to feel so strong

Now i wait
wish these thoughts would go away
i hope i dream of you
cause it's taking my life away
no i don't hate
but these thoughts won't go away
i hope i dream of you
cause it's taking my life away

Deep down it hides
making life a grind
i dreamed of this so long
this used to feel so strong

Now i wait
wish these thoughts would go away
i hope i dream of you
cause it's taking my life away
no i don't hate
but these thoughts won't go away
i hope i dream of you
cause it's taking my life away

Deep down it hides
(Repeat Chorus)

I kinda agree with Desa on this. BUt i took it a bit differently.. I think it may have to do with a guy somewhat obsessing over a girl to an extent of not being able to wait till the next moment to see her. He realizes that this love for her has taken over his life and ultimate being. His heart has been captured by someone who may not quite feel the same about him. Unrequited love.

Oh I get to be the first to comment. I don't like that second line though... a leech to find? huh? OK well I can tell you what I think of it in relation to My life...two people who used to be close then kind of fell apart, as things do, and then start talking after a really long time. Maybe it was a serious relationship. And the one never really got over it. (The chorus.) Maybe they won't ever meet again face to face, they just talk over the phone or whatnot. And maybe all his old feelings come back and their interfering with other things (or other relationships) in his life. He wants to stop thinking of her, but he still wants to dream about her, if it's the only way he'll see her again. Very sad. I can relate. Probably why I love this song so much.

It's a good attempt at a comeback. Not quite as catchy as "Wasting My Time", but I plan on buying the new album anyway because this band rocks! They're one of a kind because Dallas' voice is like none other!

I totally agree with dallasfanef. I'm in this very situation right now, and it sucks.

To me its about a relationship thats fading.

"I dreamed of this so long This used to feel so strong"

After finally getting that someone you adore, and the feelings that used to be so strong fade after a while.

"No I don't hate But these thoughts won't go away I hope I dream of you Cause it's taking my life away"

There is no hate, just thoughts of moving on in life. However there is still that desire and hope for those old feelings to return and to experience them again. Being stuck in that dilemma is wasting time and taking his life away. Just my op.

i toally 100% agree with 4saken.... A strong love at one point, but time (or whatever) as made him think about moving on. He doesnt' like thinking these thoughts, because the good times were great, and he would like toget back to that...but no matter what..."it hides"..."making life a grind" "I dreamt of this so long" - refers to when it was strong...it was great..."No I don't hate...." means he doesn't hate her...might in fact still love her, but maybe just loves her but not the relationship (cause it died, faded...or whatever)

I agree somewhat with everyone who has commented.. the "I dreamed of this so long, this used to feel so strong" seems to be about someone finally getting the person they wanted to be with, and they stop liking them so much. And the chorus seems to be "now I wait, wish these thoughts would go away" means the person is waiting for the thoughts of not wanting to be with the person to go away. "I hope I dream of you, 'cause it's taking my life away", seems to be about wanting to longingly wait for that person again, because the stress of being with them when they don't really want to be is swallowing their life and taking it over. A beautiful song, especially with the key change at the bridge.

This song means (to me): To feel those perfecting passionate feelings for someone that you thought you would never be able to feel for anyone, and finally feel it for so long with your one true love; then time creeps up and runs off the most memorable moments of your time together. The 'love' you've known has been an asider, a leech. After all this time. all this dreaming, that love becomes a leech that you love. You have loved the person in your thoughts, however,, you've dreamed of this love a long time and somehow you know that this is limited; but all the while, there's the everlasting hope that your love can be who, deep down (where it hides) you want it to be; you dream for that feeling so strong. you don't hate, you dream of your love, your thought of love. Your life flashes away, and you dream of what you long for.

Think of it as finally getting the person you adore so much, and falling in love and then realizing the feelings you once had for eachother are fading away and you don't know why. and you wish that those feelings of not loving the other would go away, because you waited for so long to have them. it has taken so much of your life away and losing them would be losing part of your life. you hope you dream of them because you need some sign that your love for them is still there.

i cant take credit for this..i got this off of dvhann from youtube...but..i think it explains the song perfectly

    My Interpretation

It's a song about a failed relationship, hoping it may still comeback..but thinking of the fact that it failed is killing him..

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
