After You're Gone Lyrics

I could not lie
Skin untouched growing thicker for every step unwalked
And I don't know if it's the cold intention-slide
Taking me down

But what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
'Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone

I could not lie
Even though dead skin like stone makes me ugly
It still pounds inside and it's red
And it's slipping through the grey cracks
And I know you know

But what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
'Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone

But what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone

But what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
'Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone

The first thing that meets the eye
When I crossover into the light
I want it to be you
Right after I'm gone
Right after I'm gone
Right after I'm gone

I think this is a break up song, makes me kinda sad but Christian is sexy so it makes up for it.

I believe he is singing about God giving him life. In the end..." The first thing that meets the eye When I crossover into the light I want it to be you Right after I'm gone" I believe this is referring to when he goes to even... "crossover into the light" and maybe the first person he wants to see is.. God. That's how I see the song.. as being about someone who is dieing in life... but asking God to sing them alive.

I love this song. And yes, the lead singer is very beautiful, but I didn't even know until I was writing this comment and saw moses's comment.

'Cause I'm just a stone Right after you're gone Right after you're gone Right after you're gone

Of course I think he's talking about God and how he cannot live without him? =)

This song makes me think of CS Lewis' book "The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe". He was honest with the witch so she turned him to stone. His skin grows thicker as he's not walking because so much would change in a hundred year frost and he would't know much if he was set free. Stuff like that.

But if Aslan the Lion, King of Beasts, would come then the fighting against the witch would be over. Aslan could come and sing him to life. Without Aslan the White Witch reigns and she would turn him to stone as soon as Aslan left.

That's just what it makes me think of.

to me its like a suicide song, just because it'd be like after someone in his life died or left there'd be nothing to life for so he'd be a stone.....which is like being dead idk

this is my favorite blindside song, next to 'when i remember.' obviously everyone has their opinions on what each song means. but i can relate to 'i'm just a stone right after you're gone.' because in my situation, lately i cannot feel anything. the only time i feel is when i am with this boy. and other than that, i feel no emotion. but yeah, that's just my take on it. everyone has their own. =]

I really like how Christian uses the metaphor of "singing" to fill him with life. God's voice is the most AWESOME thing known to man. God SPOKE the universe into existence, and that same voice can sing you to life and save you from death when you humble yourself before Jesus Christ. And that is who Christian wants to see when he "crosses over into the light."
