When I first heard it, I thought it was about a guy who's girlfriend had to go away for a while ("as I wave your east-bound plane away") for whatever reason - family, business, etc. If it was about a bad break up I don't think he would've given her his favourite Bic light, but that's just my opinion. He's just telling her how much he misses her and how muc he really needs her to live his life fully, and how when she gets back he's gonna really show it to her.

i love the favorite white bic light line. and i agree with sunshine, its about a guy who's girlfriend has to go somewhere without him and he realizes how much he loves her and can't wait for her to get back to him
They had a long distance relationship, she lives in Florida and he's in Cali. He's lost without her. If he pulled out all the stops, he could get her to move there... also, it kind of sounds like he's saying "too scared to pray", but not sure that makes sense. maybe he's "too scared" to play any music, he's broken.
