Don't think I'll confess
Why would I confess that I?
Don't think I'll deny
Why would I deny that I?

And don't be so hard on yourself
You won't get better till you're worse
Yeah, you send a little smile my way

Don't be so hard on yourself
You won't get better till you're worse
Yeah, you send a little love my way

And every second I spend waiting
Drags me closer to this grave
I'm not alone, no, I'm just on my own
And I, it's a little cold outside
Ooh, ooh, ooh

And don't think I'll escape
Why would I escape you?
And don't think I'll replace
How could I replace you?

And don't be so hard on yourself
You won't get better till you're worse
Yeah, you send a little smile my way

And don't be so hard on yourself
You won't get better till you're worse
Yeah, you send a little love my way

And every second I spend waiting
Drags me closer to this grave
I'm not alone, no, I'm just on my own
And I, it's a little cold outside
Ooh, ooh, ooh

And so don't be so hard on yourself
You won't get better till you're worse
Send your love my way

i think this is a diolauge bettween two people who have clearly stopped loving each other but still hold each other dear, and incouraging each other to move on even if it didnt work out. its sweet and honest without being all sicko girlfriend/boyfriend on each other after breaking up.

It's not "Don't Confess (This Thing That Breaks My Heart)" "This Thing That Breaks My Heart" is part of the title of AND DARLING sigh Does nobody even look in the lyric booklets these days? Or even listen to the SONG? D:

    But I love "Don't Confess" a lot a lot a lot

Hm..no one actually said what they think this song means. well, it reminds me of myself not being able to confess to this guy that i like him. or liked him, i'm not sure anymore. but anyways, based on what i'm going through this song sounds like she doesn't want to confess or deny her feelings and she wants the person on the recieving end to send her a signal ("send a little smile/send a little love")...i dunno, that's what i get out of this. i'd like to hear other opinions though

I have no idea what this song means. one time I hear it it means one thing, the next it means something else. I guess that's what makes these lyrics so good, they mean so much.

I think this song is about a couple in which person 1 has decided that she needs a break from the relationship to deal with her own issues, and the narrator (person 2) is having a hard time with the separation and can't move on. She (the narrator) is trying to express that she just wants to be with the subject despite what the subject thinks she may need to accomplish by taking a break. The lyrics "Don't be so hard on yourself, you won't get better 'til you get worse. Send your love my way," give me the sense that shes trying to say "Don't leave and try to get better because its just going to get worse. Stay with me and love me."

Oh, and regarding the issue of the title, I definitely think that it was deliberately a line from the song "And Darling." Maybe the subject of this song was the same in both songs. In "And Darling" the subject seems to be breaking the narrator's heart, so to speak, with her love, and in this song her heart is being broken because she was left by this person.

I agree with Ms Tadakichi's interpretation - i feel that the song is about having feelings for someone but not being able to 'confess' it at that time..yet wanting signals in return. Perhaps i just took that interpretation out of it because that's how i felt at the time i was first exposed to it. Regardless, it is an awesome song.

ahh. amazing. i was thinking maybe about not telling someone you have feelings for them, and not feeling sorry for yourself that you cant be with that person, just knowing that for whatever reason, youre not with them.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
